About me

The first memory is in 1971 at the age of four in Cannigione on my dad's Flying Junior with bracelets, two brothers, mom and a beautiful capsize all together! I remember very well the lunch icebox floating and my mother very worried that I would not stay under the capsized boat. At the time we lived from June to October in Cannigione. In love with sea life since I was a child, in the early nineties it could only become my job. Passionate about technique and mechanics, on all the boats I have owned or managed I have always taken care of the maintenance personally, from the engine to the masthead. I was lucky enough to find a wife who, like me, is a lover of the sea, sailing, the sun, nature. Now, with Sara, we are very happy owners of a 16-meter sloop and the intention is to be able to transfer as much as possible of our life on board.

My experience

In the early nineties I took the title of Maritime Broker and, as a company administrator, I managed several boats used for charter. Enrolled in the seafarers, I personally took care of leading them as Skipper. In the 2000s I took the title and embarked on the profession of Nautical Surveyor, working on behalf of private individuals or major insurance companies in pleasure boating. In the meantime I have achieved admission to the 5th year in the Colonna Nautical Technical Institute in Rome. The "too much" work did not allow me to do the high school, a wish that sooner or later I will fulfill. I have always continued to sail, especially Sardinia and Corsica, both for pleasure and for work, even with boats of my own. All the work experiences have served me to increase my nautical knowledge more and more. Everything I have done is useful for me to steer my boat independently and safely. Today I am the happy owner with my wife of a 16-meter sloop. Since 2025 I have been an AICS Sailing Instructor.

The Boat

The Gib Sea 51 is a very solid (without structural counter-molds) and habitable cruising boat, built for charter by Dufour Yachts in France. The idea commissioned from the J&J designers was to make the most spacious cruising yacht for its size, without sacrificing good sailing performance. Completely designed for those who are looking for space and comfort, the Gib Sea 51 is the only 50-footer able to offer 5 comfortable cabins all with private bathrooms. The crew is accommodated in the forward cabin with its own bathroom.

The double bed in the forward guest cabins can be divided in height, giving the possibility of having two separate mattresses. The cabins and dinette are very bright and well ventilated and the large dinette table can comfortably accommodate up to ten people. Plenty of space for the galley too. The external cockpit is comfortable and very habitable, with a fixed table that opens, two wheelhouses at the stern and convenient access to the sea. The boat offers plenty of space on deck to stretch out and for your sunbathing.

The boat has very solid and sturdy equipment, battened mainsail, rollable genoa, tanks for 1000 liters of water, 500 liters of diesel, hot water, inverter, solar panels, electric bathrooms, 2 fridges, biminis, sprayhood canopy, tender, in short, everything you need to stay at anchor as long as you want in maximum comfort! In addition to this, we have 2 sups available for guests.

Andrea and Calogero made our boat trip incredible and unforgettable. We met very kind Italians during this journey and, in the end, we became like a family. We celebrated my daughter's 18th birthday all together, and she was very happy to celebrate it with such a wonderful team! Each member of our team stayed until midnight so that we could open the bottle of champagne and celebrate my daughter's birthday. I really appreciate all the attention, friendship, and positive emotions we shared together. We visited many beautiful places and also tried Sardinian and Corsican restaurants. Andrea showed us and introduced us to a wild pink island, which was just a wonderland! We swam a lot :), which was marvelous. It was an extraordinary experience to see the boat flying :) with the wind and its sail open! Andrea and Calogero are great skippers! For Alessandro and I it was the first experience on a cruise and I must say that it went far beyond expectations. The boat offers large and comfortable spaces, perfect for living life at sea to the fullest. Andrea, with the precious help of Sara, managed to take us to wonderful places that we would never have imagined being able to discover in total relaxation, even during the week of Ferragosto. An added value was also the excellent group that was created on board: a holiday remains such, but the right collaborative spirit makes the experience truly unique!
