Sardinia and Strait of Bonifacio on a 50-foot sailboat

DESTINATION What can I say, you are in the most beautiful sea in the world. BOAT The Beneteau Cyclades 50 is a classic and the boat is impeccably maintained SKIPPER A very low mark for the skipper, but with the necessary arguments. NAUTICAL SKILLS: I imagine they are excellent, given the experience, but having not had any particular drawbacks I would not be able to evaluate. We "ploughed" twice", but there was strong wind and we entered the port hitting the nearby boat, but without damage. CHOICE OF THE ROUTE. I think it is right that the course undergoes changes depending on the context. In our case, we went to Corsica immediately, supported by the sirocco and then returned south pushed by the mistral. Great choice. We flew over the usual cathedrals (Budelli etc) to linger in lesser-known but equally beautiful and, above all, almost empty coves. Excellent strategy RELATIONSHIP WITH THE GROUP: I consider it unacceptable to be on a boat and feel like unwelcome guests. The skipper created a vexatious atmosphere and really not inclined to create the group. These claims are supported by the following facts: 1. The boat has 4 cabins and there were 10 of us, with 2 guests who, at the same price as the others and unaware of the solution, slept in the dinette, without the slightest privacy, the space to deposit their belongings, and the obligatory passage of everyone over their "bed" to access the breakfast compartments 2. His own profit was the skipper's greatest concern who tried to ask for reimbursement of the supply of towels as soon as he boarded, he did not advance a penny but gradually asked for money for the payment of the ports and the galley. He had himself bought, at his explicit request, rags and soap (nicknamed chantecler) to wash the boat. 3. He asked for a refund of 560 euros of diesel by calculating the expense on the hours of navigation and not on real consumption, which varies greatly depending on the exploitation of the wind. I specify that in June we spent 138 euros for a week in the Aeolian Islands, with the same boat, without wind, with the same distances made this week, but with the calculation of real consumption (the skipper filled up as soon as we returned to port). 4. Failed to communicate the availability of the free port shuttle for transfer to and from the port/airport, despite explicit requests. This resulted in the cost of taxis (40 euros for the port and 30 for the airport). In particular, he deleted my message posted on the group's chat in which I asked him to send the free shuttle to pick up the last two guests who had to pay for the taxi. 5. He refused to facilitate us in keeping our suitcases on the day of arrival (we disembarked at 8 from the ferry and boarding was at 17) forcing us to walk around Olbia with luggage and an unbearable heat. 6. He has created an obsessive climate of control over all our actions, making us feel inhibited on any initiative in his presence.

For a header I embarked at the last minute joining an already formed group ... never was a gamble more successful!!! Well maintained, comfortable and functional boat to accommodate 8 people. The itinerary suggested by Giuanluca gave us wonderful glimpses of the coast, unforgettable sunrises and moonlit nights that filled our eyes. He, infallible master of navigation. Even in the face of an almost prohibitive sea he was able to govern the situation in an incomparable way... And then he gave us a sail that I wish all fans to experience at least once in their lives. Gianluca was a great skipper, a superb cook and a jovial companion of light-hearted evenings, both on board and on land... Do you have to reschedule a departure!!

Unforgettable week between the Phlegraean and Pontine mountains. [hidden] Legend absolutely top boat, comfortable (4 cabins and 4 bathrooms, a great luxury!) spacious, well maintained and organized! You can see the captain's care in every detail... Gianluca then fantastic skipper: as well as extremely experienced, he was able to make our experience truly special. From live music (he has various instruments on board) to aperitifs in the tender at sunset, every day was a very pleasant surprise. Finally, I liked the itinerary very much, the right balance between nights at anchor (in places more suggestive than ever) and descents to land. A heartfelt thank you to the crew, the Skipper and the legendary [hidden] Legend! I can't wait to get back on board!
