Set sail from the green shores of Korfu on a relaxed yet slightly adventurous northbound journey along the little-explored Albanian Riviera, finishing in the historic port of Durrës. After a short crossing from Corfu, we arrive near Sarandë, where clear water and uncrowded beaches welcome us into a region with limited marina infrastructure and few charter fleets. Instead of polished marinas, we rely on our watermaker, solar panels on board and use natural anchorages, small fishing harbors, and bays near places like Ksamil, Himarë, Porto Palermo, and remote stretches of cliff-lined coast. This means simpler facilities, more self-sufficiency on board — and the rare pleasure of much less yachts.

Life on board is relaxed and flexible. Mornings start with coffee in the cockpit and a swim straight from the boat, followed by short scenic sails north. Days are filled with snorkeling in clear water, paddleboarding, floating with music on deck, reading in the shade, and enjoying the slow rhythm of a coast that hasn’t been shaped by mass tourism. Afternoons might mean wandering through a seaside town or street market, exploring a castle, or finding a family-run café where sailors are still something of a curiosity.

Evenings stay low-key and social: simple dinners on board, sunset drinks in the cockpit, or relaxed meals ashore in small local tavernas. Nights at anchor are often quiet and dark, perfect for stargazing and long conversations.

As we approach Durrës, the coast opens into wide beaches and a lively harbor, marking a gentle return to city life.
