This experience, in a nutshell

A unique training experience dedicated to those who want to discover the charm of offshore sailing. Aboard a Baltic 52, an iconic sailboat for its performance, elegance and reliability, you will learn how to handle the challenges of sailing long distances.

What you will learn

Route planning, boat management, safety, shifts and life on board, choice of anchorages and ports.

Topics covered

  • Route planning – Analysis of nautical charts, meteorology and navigation strategies.
  • Boat management – Sail adjustment to optimize performance, rudder steering and manned maneuvers.
  • Safety at sea – Procedures for dealing with emergency situations, use of electronic instrumentation and safety systems.
  • Shifts and life on board – Organization of the crew during night sailings and management of life at sea.
  • Manoeuvres in port – Manoeuvres in confined spaces with the engine, approach to the quay, mooring and unmooring.
  • Controlling the boat in tight spaces – Navigation requires the ability to maneuver the boat even in confined spaces, where the traffic of other boats and the presence of obstacles can make operations more complex. Exercising in confined spaces will give you the confidence you need to deal with any situation in port and at sea.
  • Emergency management – In addition to routine maneuvers, the course will prepare you to deal with emergency situations during maneuvers. Safety is a priority at every stage of navigation and it is essential to acquire the right skills to face the unexpected calmly and decisively.

Learn to sail in a week in the Tuscan Archipelago

I was really looking forward to the sailing week in advance and my expectations were fully met. We sailed around the island of Elba, spent the night in beautiful bays, jumped directly from the ship into the sea, snorkeled on rocks and cooked together on board in the evening. A special highlight was that we caught fresh fish and cooked it the same evening. We saw dolphins jumping out of the water. On the island of Elba we were able to discover the landscapes and eat fine fish. The sunrises and sunsets were fantastic, and also to feel the stormy wind on your skin as well as the high waves breaking on the rocks was an impressive experience. Equally unforgettable was the clear starry sky over the sea. The ship was very well equipped with running water, electricity and comfortable beds in which you were gently lulled to sleep by the rocking of the sea. I would like to highlight our skipper Marco. He knows the island of Elba very well, always knew the best places to stay, had a sure sense of weather and waves and always made the right decisions for the entire crew. We learned a lot from him, about sailing, about wind and weather, about nature, history, technology and also about ourselves and the people on board. All in all, it was a great experience. I am very happy, full of beautiful memories and would sail again at any time.

I have just finished a week of sailing course and it was a truly unique and enriching experience. I sincerely thank the sailing school for the opportunity and for the impeccable organization: I learned a lot, having fun and experiencing the sea in a new and authentic way. A special thanks also to our instructor Marco, for the professionalism, patience and passion with which he guided us, transmitting not only technical skills but also the love for sailing. An experience that I recommend to everyone and that I will take with me with great enthusiasm!

Great Stephen, regatta course in the pouring rain with sea formed and "barrel" from 30 knots of wind. I believe that only in this way can we really learn to navigate. All this always and in any case in safety and under his supervision. Thanks also to Germano who guided us for the regatta we did the next day (this time under the sun). Great staff
