This experience, in a nutshell

This adventure comes to life between sea and land, at that time of year when the sun peeps out and gives a few hours of light that are exploited to navigate a surreal landscape.

At Vannoya , time is not measured in days, hours, or minutes; it is measured in sensations.

There is the feeling of a sunrise that lasts hours but never really becomes day, the sky remains pink and then darkens again, passing through a thousand shades of gray more or less bright.

There is a feeling of exhilaration as you find yourself shoveling snow from the boat before sailing, to go in search of orcas or whales, in an immense ocean of graphite-colored water that frames the neighboring islands.

There is the feeling of discovering that "but what do you do when it gets dark at 3 in the afternoon?" is a question that finds many answers: the magic of hearing someone announcing the sighting of the northern lights, and rushing to get dressed to go out in the wind to enjoy that poetry drawn in the sky; the pleasure of sitting in front of the large window of the Guest House to watch the landscape fill with reindeer who walk; the realization that even at home you live like on a boat, only instead of the sea around there is snow: conviviality is part of daily life between chatting, preparing dinner together, shopping in a small local market chatting with the owner.

There is the feeling of familiarity that you experience in the evening after having dinner all together around the large wooden table: the evenings flow between background music, stories, games, readings, smiles and even pleasant silences. And the darkness makes everything softer, more nuanced.

There is the feeling of pleasure that the sauna, built around a large tree, can give; after a good sweat you go out into the wind, bare feet on the ice, and feel renewed. Or the pleasure of discovering the library, a magical place that helps to put order the many thoughts that this "different time" brings to mind.

But above all there is the feeling of living truly special moments, building memories to put in your suitcase to take with you.

A wonderful human experience... and boating. Marco and Britta make you feel at home both on board and in their wonderful cottage. [hidden] is a spartan boat, but it is an 'old lady', very suitable for navigating that cold, treacherous and fascinating sea.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to experience sailing in this part of the world. The location and scenery was stunning. Marco and his wife Britta were excellent hosts. They take extra measures to ensure their guests are looked after. Marco was a very knowledgeable and experienced sailor and I would hope to have the opportunity to visit this area and sail with them again. Grazie Mille

Wonderful experience, I would repeat. Seen the orcas and auroras! The eclectic Captain Marco is very competent and helpful, the very active Britta is super welcoming, attentive to everyone's needs. A stay in their very special home for the warmth, sympathy and "feeling at home". Thank you!
