This experience, in a nutshell

Residential watercolor painting course on a sailing boat in Lampedusa

The idea was born from the meeting with Concetta, a painter on board, who after years of teaching at the Art School, today often undertakes trips on a sailing boat to make travel notebooks and to trace real and imaginary routes on nautical charts. We offer an immersive experience, living on board, combining navigation with art and allowing you to paint en plein air in evocative contexts, in close contact with nature. The watercolor painting course will take place as part of a week-long sailing holiday in the Pelagie Islands, in the heart of the Mediterranean, at the end of summer, when the weather is still warm but the islands return to calm after the summer tourist crowds.

Painting Course

The painting course includes a program of four hours a day organized in such a way that the artistic activity is integrated with the proposal of a boat holiday.

Two moments of activity are scheduled:

  • In the morning, during the navigation and excursion activities on the mainland, the guest will be invited, under the teacher's super vision, to shoot with the camera and write down with quick pencil sketches on his notebook the images that most excite him
  • In the second afternoon, having reached a quiet place, a port, or a roadstead, we will have two hours of group activities of pictorial reworking with the use of watercolors, pencils and watercolor pastels in order to be able to acquire competence in these painting techniques, always accompanied by the teacher-painter.

Each participant will take home their own on-board notebook.

Sailing and the sailing experience will thus become a precious moment of sharing and exchange of Creative Thinking for guests, the opportunity to grasp and retain with greater intensity the experiences and emotions lived and the possibility of acquiring the techniques aimed at expressing them.

Our itinerary

We will sail between Lampedusa, Linosa and Lampione, 3 islands with very different morphologies: Lampedusa, the last strip of the African continent, an island of granite rock and sandy bottoms with Caribbean waters; Lamppost, a rock surrounded by seabeds full of fish, Linosa an island of volcanic origin, with black rocks and the color of fire and blue seabeds. We will stay as far away as possible from crowds and noise: sailing sailing, sightings of turtles, dolphins, shearwaters and falcons, swimming in crystal clear waters, good food, sunsets and African stars.

Life on board

You will stay in twin cabins (two doubles and one with separate berths). You will be provided with sheets, sheet bags, towels and beach towels. Breakfasts and lunches will be cooked on board with fresh products, fish, local vegetables and excellent Lampedusa delicatessens. Some dinners will be free, except for a dinner on board, an aperitif in Porto M and a solidarity dinner at the I Germogli di Linosa association, included in the fee.

Skipper and sailor ensure the smooth running and safety of the navigation, the initial supplies, including the galley (so as to avoid you having to spend time at the supermarket as soon as you arrive on vacation). During the week the management is shared, we will all take care of preparing meals, washing dishes, tidying up the boat, shopping for fresh products. Those who wish can participate in sailing maneuvers, steer and if neophyte learn the rudiments of navigation.

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.

Here is the second updated version with the name of the [hidden] boat and without the blank spaces between the paragraphs (immediately wrapping after the dots): Seven dream days on [hidden] with authentic professionals! Wonderful week in Lampedusa and Linusa aboard [hidden] with Lorenzo and Federica. Lorenzo is an excellent owner and sailor, endowed with a true and genuine kindness that makes you feel immediately at home. Federica was a fantastic guide and help skipper. Continuous attention, exquisite seafood cuisine and a total immersion in the local culture thanks to their contacts and their knowledge of the place. Extraordinary value for money for the level of service and experiences offered. Highly recommended!

An exceptional holiday/experience. We had a great time with Emanuela (Manu) and the whole group. We couldn't have asked for more. For those interested in knowing a little more. We traveled with my partner (English) and this is our fourth boat experience with a group of "strangers" (at the beginning). The first with Manu. The boat is spacious and well equipped. We eat very well and help a little (but this was an opportunity for us to make a group and feel useful). You can learn a bit of sailing. The places are beautiful and there are also cultural opportunities and exchanges of ideas, if you feel like it. The atmosphere is as if you were with long-time friends (constructive, fun and absolutely not formal). We would leave tomorrow too...

A beautiful destination, with sublime nature. An extremely friendly crew that made this week unforgettable. Only one crew member was present on board (instead of 2, as mentioned in the offer). A second arrived on Wednesday evening (2 days before the disembarkation, but Lorenzo confirmed that she had no role on the boat). We sailed safely, the food was excellent, However, Lorenzo, the skipper of the boat, clearly lacks empathy and communication, both during the maneuvers and for life on board. In terms of hygiene, the boat was never cleaned during the week, fruits and vegetables were even rotting in the boat...
