This experience, in a nutshell

Contrary to popular belief, the 'polar night' offers several hours of extraordinary light, in addition to the Northern Lights in the darkest hours.

The hours of daylight in this period are limited: during the day we will have about 4 hours of daylight, while the rest of the time it will be dark. That's why, weather permitting, we will try to make the most of the few hours of daylight for our adventures aboard the sailboat. During the navigation, if we are lucky, we will also be able to see some orca or whales, although the best time to observe them is autumn, in their annual migration and we will visit remote marinas along the coast at the end of the world.

The rest of the time we will spend between stories, readings, board games heated in our base on land on the island of Vannoya in a breathtaking landscape: windows overlooking the dawn, deer walking in the surrounding lands, wood stoves and maps hanging on the walls. A true fusion with the wind, the sea, the prairie, the snow and the rocks that surround this poetic and surreal environment!

OUR BASE - WHERE WILL WE SLEEP?

Our base, located on a private 15-hectare peninsula, also has its own nine-hole golf course. Not always accessible due to snow, but we managed to play in every season of the year. In the gallery you can find some photos of the base.

The two houses are in the center of the Keila peninsula, on a 15-hectare plot of land formerly used as a farm, with about a kilometer of private coastline, and a lighthouse.

We like to think that the center of our activities is an event in space where time does not flow and it is not necessary to do anything, but only to merge with the wind, the sea, the prairie, the snow and the rocks that surround us. And always immersed in the poetry of light.

The Casa Rossa accommodates travelers with a large lounge with a wood stove and large windows overlooking the sea. Guests have free access to the kitchen and two large bathrooms. WiFi is available in this house.

The House of Books relaxes travelers with hundreds of travel books, atlases, maps and nautical charts. Also heated by classic Norwegian wood stoves. This house is purposely offline.

On the grounds of the property there are several trails, a golf course and several viewpoints and birdwatching, as well as the lighthouse.

I was delighted to have the opportunity to experience sailing in this part of the world. The location and scenery was stunning. Marco and his wife Britta were excellent hosts. They take extra measures to ensure their guests are looked after. Marco was a very knowledgeable and experienced sailor and I would hope to have the opportunity to visit this area and sail with them again. Grazie Mille

Wonderful experience, I would repeat. Seen the orcas and auroras! The eclectic Captain Marco is very competent and helpful, the very active Britta is super welcoming, attentive to everyone's needs. A stay in their very special home for the warmth, sympathy and "feeling at home". Thank you!

Islands at the edge of the world

A simply wonderful holiday, led by a caring and exquisite skipper from every point of view, on a boat that makes us regret the direction taken by the shipyards in the last 30 years, in an environment that has often left us speechless. Marco and Britta live in Vannoya, one of these islands at the edge of the world that we had the opportunity to visit, and they manage to share with their guests all their enthusiasm for these places. I can't imagine better guides! A small warning for those thinking of embarking on this journey: you will want to return to visit new friends, to get your hands on the wheel of the helm, to visit the cozy Haus of Books. Thanks again Britta and Marco, see you soon!
