This experience, in a nutshell

A week wandering in the Tuscan Archipelago, between the Island of Elba, Capraia and Corsica. Lots of sailing, sea and new friends to explore the wonderful and wild bays of this corner of paradise in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Imagine yourself sitting there quietly on the starboard side while the profile of the coast receded and became small on the horizon leaving behind the traffic of the cities, the early wake-up call in the morning to go to work, the annoying colleagues, the queues at the post office and the supermarket... Is there anything else to add? 🙂

We will start our week with Elba and its countless coves, coves, ravines and beaches of all kinds. Once we have recharged our batteries and recharged our spirits, we will point the bow of the boat towards the island of Capraia.

THE ADVANTAGE OF LEAVING DIRECTLY FROM THE ISLAND OF ELBA?
Our port of embarkation is located in the north-eastern part of the island and is connected to the mainland by sea, thanks to the ferries that connect the port of Rio Marina to that of Piombino. The journey takes about an hour and tickets can be purchased online, by telephone or directly on site. The number of trips intensifies in the vicinity and with the arrival of the high season: in July and August there are ten daily trips from 8am to 7pm. The real convenience is that you can park your car in one of the many car parks and garages in Piombino and then once you get off the ferry you are already in front of our boat... and YOUR HOLIDAY STARTS IMMEDIATELY!

We'll pass through the cetacean sanctuary where dolphins often enjoy accompanying the boat as it sails the waves. Before sleeping in the harbor in the starlight, there will be an aperitif at sunset at Cala Rossa, so called because of the rocks that literally explode at sunset.

We will then head to the coasts of Corsica to explore the wonderful and wild bays of this little-trodden corner of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It will be a twenty-mile crossing on the open sea ploughing through the waves while the sun, the sea and the wind transport us to another dimension.

It is a holiday suitable for everyone, from friends to families, from sailing lovers to those who may have decided to give it a try this year.

Marmaglia Discovery Flotilla to the Cyclades Islands in Greece

First experience on a sailing boat: a nice adventure with some ideas for improvement Since this is my first time on a sailing boat, the final balance is certainly positive. It was an enriching experience and the group turned out to be very pleasant, although there are some aspects that could make the trip even more comfortable and inclusive for the participants. Value of experience and galley management: The overall cost was a bit high compared to the services included. ( at the time of booking it must be specified that in addition to the initial expense there are other expenses, this has not been specified. For example.. fuel, water supply galley starter pack..... this is specified only once you have booked) Being at the first experience, we would have liked to have had extra support from the skipper or in any case from the organizational group at the time of the initial expense: a little advice to optimize the galley and avoid the superfluous (perhaps buying the rest gradually in the ports) would have been really useful. ( example once the excel has been filled in, the organizers with more experience than us can remove what seems extra to them ... instead of "scolding" each other because we did our own thing. Involvement in maneuvers: It is good to warn and know that it is an active holiday: even without any previous experience, you get involved and there is an absolute need to help the skipper during maneuvers and navigation, which makes you feel part of the crew but you need to be educated just in case. Group and fleet dynamics: Over half of the group already knew each other, and for those who struggle a little more to integrate or leave alone, this can create a small initial obstacle. To facilitate friendships, it would be great if the organization included more moments of sharing between the three boats, perhaps supporting them during the afternoon stops and not just the two evenings of sharing to really make the experience live as one big group. A trip that leaves a good memory and that I would do again, with the hope that these suggestions can help the organization to make the experience even more welcoming for future participants.

Marmaglia weaves similar ropes that can immediately be easily joined with a flat knot and at the end of the holiday, despite feeling a tangle of emotions, they realize that in the end they have formed a lasting knot like the lover's soda. The organization has been attentive to every detail and has been ready to update the itinerary based on the weather forecast, allowing us to experience a holiday in complete safety away from summer storms. All the staff of Marmaglia has always been ready to handle every little unforeseen event and has allowed us to experience a 10/10 holiday! Yes, you leave as strangers and you come back that you have become part of a family! Thank you Marmaglia! See you soon ☺️

Unfortunately due to Meltemi we had to totally change the initial itinerary by falling back on the Saronic islands, consequently we did not see the Cyclades at all. Apart from this inconvenience all good!
