Brief description of the holiday

Departure on Monday at 10.00 from Livorno and arrival around 17.00 in the Gulf of Procchio, with the beautiful beaches of Biodola and Viticcio and possible overnight stay at anchor, weather permitting.
Or, possibility of sleeping in the port of Marciana (by reservation) or in the harbor outside the port.
In both cases, you will be able to enjoy the visit of the characteristic port of Marciana.
The next morning, we will leave for the island of Capraia, where we will arrive in the early afternoon. The following two nights, we will spend sailing around Capraia where we will evaluate according to the needs of the guests and the weather whether to sleep in the port or in some cove.
Thursday morning, we will leave for Livorno around noon and arrive at 6-7pm.

What can I say, maximum competence and availability! Matteo transmitted to all the crew great confidence and proved to be a deep connoisseur of the sea and the places .... A skipper who was a real captain but also a fantastic travel companion. Can't wait to get on board again!

Mythical Matthew, they were 4 wonderful days, in his company and the rest of the crew. Matteo is extremely competent in driving the boat and also keeps in mind the comfort of the passengers, their sailing fun and safety. Being a deep connoisseur of the places he was able to adapt the route to allow us to go sailing as much as possible and to spend the nights at anchor always looking for the coves that would have been the quietest for the night. I definitely recommend it.

My 12 year old son and I had the pleasure of sharing this experience with fun people under Matteo's expert guidance. Matteo has been able to understand and manage the needs of the group always proposing alternatives and respecting our rhythms. The thing that struck me most is that he did not just make us From Skypper, he introduced us to Capraia with its history and its inhabitants making us feel part of this beautiful island. Thank you for this beautiful adventure.

Matteo was amazing in guaranteeing me and my children of 11 and 13 years a wonderful experience despite a not too favorable weather. He acted as a skipper in navigation, Cicero for the island of Capraia (of which he is originally from) and as an attentive guide even during the baths in the coves. He was able to meet the needs of those who, at the first experiences, did not tolerate the roll of the boat, allowing to restructure the initial program and adapting to the needs of the group as allowed by the weather reports. An expert of the sea above and below the sea with whom it is a real pleasure to sail. Unfortunately we could not sail much because of the bad weather, but in the return crossing by motor, we were lucky enough to spot a pod of dolphins.

I do not recommend the sailing holiday to those who do not have a truly remarkable spirit of adaptation ... non-existent privacy even at the bathroom if you can call it that... and the rooms are niches where it is impossible to move .. moreover, the final cost of the holiday is not exhaustively explained.... the extras are many more and the variables dependent on time always borne by the customer ... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SKIPPER RESPONSE: Hi Laura, I'm sorry that your sailing experience was not optimal. On the other hand, as you wrote, to travel on a sailboat you need a spirit of adaptation ... and as a first sailing experience it would perhaps have been wiser to try to have a daily experience in the meantime, instead of booking a racing boat for 3 days. The weather, unfortunately, is not commanded and the case wanted that your reservation coincided with the worst weather period of the whole season. Just think of the fact that the day before your arrival in Capraia there were 65 knots of wind, tornadoes, boats ended up on rocks and unfortunately some dead in nearby Corsica, where the wind reached 140 knots and dozens of boats sank. Reason why, you had to come to Capraia by ferry since the previous day it was impossible for me to return to Livorno. The following day the weather had improved and we went out to visit the coves of the island... Unfortunately, because of your seasickness, after not even twenty minutes from the departure from the port you asked me to find you a place in the hotel on land because you no longer wanted to stay on the boat. Which I did, wasting almost two hours to the rest of the guests of the boat, who like you had paid. After three hours, you called your friend who remained on board, asking to pick you up because you wanted to get back on board and I considered it inappropriate to satisfy your request since you would still have suffered from seasickness again and above all I would have to lose another 3 hours to the other participants to pick you up and go back behind the island again. I finally satisfied your friend, who asked me the following day to be taken back to port (1 hour of navigation) so that I could travel by ferry with you, otherwise she would have to wait for your arrival by ferry in Livorno, since we would have arrived earlier. So, the extra costs you had to bear were the outward journey by ferry (due to weather), the hotel (which you wanted) and the return by ferry (due to your seasickness). I remind you that on the Sailsquare page there are photos and plans of the boat (since in your opinion, 3 double cabins and 2 bathrooms with shower and hot water on a 14-meter boat, are "niches without privacy") and also the extra costs related to fuel and any mooring costs in the port are well explained and that the reviews are used to evaluate the skipper and the boat, and not the spirit of adaptation or not of the people who make this type of holidays. It was the first experience with this type of holiday and it could not get better than this, especially thanks to an excellent commander like Matteo, born in Capraia and very experienced in those areas. His knowledge of the sea, flexibility and good humor really made all the difference. Thank you very much, see you next time!

What can I say... the variables that define the result of a sailing holiday are many... the boat, the weather, the itinerary, the company... and many others; each has its own weight but certainly one of those that most moves the needle of the scale is the captain of the boat. Four fantastic days! Matteo is a competent skipper, capable and attentive to the needs of everyone, young and old. Kind, provident and always available to explain knots and maneuvers in an understandable and engaging way. Every moment was perfectly organized.
