Brief description of the holiday
The Ambracian Gulf is a pristine Natura 2000 habitat visited by
nearly three hundred bird species including Heron, Egrets,
Spoonbills, Flamingos & Pelicans.
The Gulf is also home to one of the last healthy pods of Bottlenose Dolphin in the Med! They're a joy to observe as we cruise these ecologically rich waters. Add sun, sea, and history for a truly unique cruising experience!
The Ambracian Gulf in northwest Greece has to be one of the best-kept nature secrets out there. Our Spring Migration Eco Cruise will take us through this pristine estuary habitat to revel in the magnificence of nearly three hundred bird species, seventy-five of which are rare or threatened.
The Dalmatian Pelicans are resident year round. With three metre wingspans, they are the largest of the species and will be strutting their stuff in their vivid breeding plumage.
This cruise will bring you closer to nature than you have probably been in some time. This habitat is truly amazing and exploding with flowers & birds, butterflies, dolphins, and sea turtles at this particular time of year.
Day 1 we cruise to Koronisia to roam the Loyarou lagoons, then south to anchor under a historic Venetian Fortress.
Day 2 starts with a walking tour of the waterfront, ancient flora and fauna and the castle.
Day 3 we cruise the Tsonkalio Lagoons, visit the Strongyli observatory and spend the afternoon meandering peaceful walking trails before anchoring in the tranquil waters of the Vouvalos Islands.
Day 4 completes our tour of the western Gulf, cruising the Louros Delta and the ancient Roman city ruins of Nicopolis.
Day 5 is open for the beach, history, architecture, culture, cuisine or all of the above!
Bavaria 44 Cruiser
The 2003 Bavaria 44 is a superbly designed Ocean Class yacht built for comfortable long-distance cruising.
At just under 14 metres it is comparable in length to larger vessel designations and optimizes this space below decks with full-size cabins and an open salon area that features ample headroom for most.
Three large double cabins include two stern suites and a double V-berth master in the forepeak. The double bunk room is dedicated as crew quarters. Two bathrooms with showers are complemented by a third shower on the transom. An open concept galley and dining area are well appointed for comfort to lounge and share meals.
The twin wheel cockpit provides easy boarding and the helm stations are situated behind the main seating, creating an independent and relaxing lounging area. Wide side decks allow safe and convenient maneuverability to the spacious mid-ship and forward decks where one can seek personal space or laze as the world passes by.
A sugar scoop transom and submerged diving ladder enable individuals of all ages to effortlessly exit the water after a swim.
The shallow draft configuration enables a wider choice of anchorages, we often overnight in bays not much deeper than swimming pools. In-mast and foresail furling systems make getting underway a breeze eliminating any need to move forward of the cockpit under sail.
Looking forward to welcoming you on board!
