Brief description of the holiday
Girotonno, food identifies and tells a territory
An evocative and celebratory event of a centuries-old tradition: tuna fishing on the Sulcitan island of San Pietro.
Now in its 16th edition, it is now a classic in the international panorama of gastronomic reviews The canal that separates San Pietro from Sant'Antioco, the largest island in the Sulcis archipelago, has always been crossed by schools of 'bluefin tuna', the most prized in the Mediterranean, during migrations. His fishing with nets is a practice that dates back as far as the Phoenicians and Romans, perfected in the fifteenth century by the Spaniards.
We will sail from Cagliari with a route to the Island of San Pietro, passing through the Chia coast, Capo Spartivento, Zafferano, Porto Pino ..
once we arrive in Carloforte we will have 5 days to go around the island and enjoy its spectacular coves in addition to the Girotonno festival with competitions and cooking school,
Tuna village and street concerts.
The boat is a classic "racer" (racing boat) of the 70s designed in San Francisco (CA) by Doug Peterson and produced entirely in aluminum in the shipyard 71 by the visionary Niccolò Puccinelli in Castiglione della Pescaia in 1976. It is crafted boat from a shipyard that built dreams of sailors of yesteryear and still retains all the seafaring charm that modern boats have largely lost, as a friend would say "is a differently comfortable boat." Over the years it has been improved for cruising with various restorations that bring it today in excellent condition for both cruising and vintage regattas. The deck is completely flat and offers a platform free from obstacles useful for surfing or sunbathing or jumping into the sea with a run-up (only when the boat is anchored !!) A powerful engine and light hull allow us to move fast and safe in all conditions, below deck from the ladder, halfway up to bow is all open with curtains to separate the various beds offering plenty of space. The aft part with the skipper cabin and correspondence are separated from the rest of the boat by a door. The rest of the interiors are modular and light but still comfortable. In reality below deck there is the space of a motovelero and many latex mattresses, sheets are made of linen or large antique cotton, very comfortable.
