We are based in Milan and Paris and we fairly mix work and fun. But as soon as we can, we get on board to sail away.

We are now looking for:

  Skipper Operations Specialist


As Skipper Operations Specialist, your responsibility will be to assure the highest service level to our skippers network. Your main tasks will include multilingual support via email, live chat and telephone providing support to boat-owning skippers all the way through the application process, onboarding and listing their experiences on the platform.

This is a business development position that will make you an active member of the Operations team, bringing you to share strategies and objectives: it is a central and critical role in developing the offer side of the platform, which is based on enlarging the base of boat-owning skippers and their retention, thanks to an excellent support service.
The successful performance of the Operations team activity is closely related with the continuous improvement of the experience of thousands of people which every year choose Sailsquare for their holidays at sea.

Are you ready to join our crew?

Responsibilities:

  • Assure an high support service level to skippers;
  • Take active part to boat-owning skippers recruiting process;
  • Interact with skippers worldwide on a daily basis, understanding their needs and solving problems quickly;
  • Take part on the definition of the recruiting marketing strategy, and directly execute part of the online and offline marketing activities.

The ideal candidate for this position:

  • Is italian mother tongue and speaks English fluently;
  • Shows a strong passion for startups and business development;
  • Has a positive and proactive mentality; social attitude, creativity and a strong curiosity are a must;
  • Has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a strong customer orientation;
  • Works daily with Google Apps suite (Gmail, Gdocs, Gtalk, etc.) and has a basic practice knowledge of Photoshop (or other image editing tools);
  • Is extremely well organized.
Knowledge of a third language (starting from French, German or Spanish) would be considered a plus.

Contract and other stuff:

Contract: Full-time, open-ended
Salary: 22K Gross annual salary + bonus
Workplace: Milan or Genoa (Italy).

Senior Backend Developer


As Senior Backend Developer, you'll be responsible for developing most of the core features of our application, while ensuring performance, scalability and reliability of the platform. You will be part of a distributed team that uses an agile approach, eager to try new things and learn from the experience, and to build great products.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious developer wishing to join our core team and leave a footprint in a successful story.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our Tech Lead to define the overall architecture, choose the technology solutions and guidelines to be used or implemented;
  • Develop new and maintain existing backend services to ensure they are efficient, reliable and secure;
  • Pro-actively enhance our web platform;
  • Explore new methodologies and technologies, weigh their pros and cons and share your insights within the team.

The ideal candidate for this position is:

  • Someone with proven track record and hands-on knowledge of development of modern custom web applications (2-4 years of relevant experience);
  • Has considerable development experience with web frameworks and languages;
  • Uses testing methodologies;
  • Someone who has the ability to inspire, motivate and support people, and uses the word ‘we’ a lot more often than ‘I’;
  • Passionate about writing beautiful, clean, maintainable code (being also passionate about sailing is a strong plus), understanding the balance between scrappiness and long-term code maintainability;
  • Able to wear multiple hats, including integration with front end roles and devops;
  • Nice to have: experience with PHP - Symfony
  • A lover of open‑source software and open standards in wider terms;
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written);

Contract and other stuff:

Contract: full time. Salary: € 35-45k + stock options.
Workplace: Milan or Genoa (Italy).
Full-remote not possible.

As Frontend Developer, you'll be responsible for developing most of the front-end of our website, while ensuring performance, usability and reliability. You will be part of a distributed team that uses an agile approach, eager to try new things and learn from the experience, and to build great products.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of developers, product owners and designers to produce an high quality product;
  • Develop high quality interfaces and interactions, translating requirements and mockups into fully functionable features;
  • Help us deliver fantastic UI by maintaining a base of reusable components;
  • Pro-actively enhance our web platform;
  • Explore new methodologies and technologies, weigh their pros and cons and share your insights within the team.

The ideal candidate for this position is:

  • Someone with deep (3+ years), hands-on knowledge of modern front-end web development practices;
  • With a considerable development experience with modern custom web applications;
  • Able to develop pixel perfect layouts;
  • Someone who has the ability to inspire, motivate and support people, and uses the word ‘we’ a lot more often than ‘I’;
  • Passionate about writing beautiful, clean, maintainable code (being also passionate about sailing is a strong plus), understanding the balance between scrappiness and long-term code maintainability;
  • A lover of open‑source software and open standards in wider terms;
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written);
