About me

My name is --hidden--. I am a passionate sailor from the Netherlands. I am proud to be part of the generation of sailors who live the passion of an almost foreg1 area. Together with my wife we own our current yacht for more than 19 years. We have sailed with our family and friends in the western and eastern Med from our homebase Scarlino. As well as to and from the Netherlands twice. Now that the children are studying, we are sharing our sailing with friends and 'charter' guests since 2014, much to our pleasure. We like to sail independent from the crowds, keeping a distance from other boats. In January 2022 we crossed the Atlantic and are now in the Caribbean. --hidden-- is 1dergoing a major re-fit in Trinidad, including a new teak deck. She will be available for the Caribbean charter season in 2023 and for the return sail to Europe. .

What I like to do

My experience

I have been sailing all my life. Starting in Friesland, on the northern lakes of Holland, but soon sailing on the sea in different training programs of the Sail Training Association. At 16 I sailed with the 3 mast schooner ‘Malcom Miller’ round Britain, and found myself addicted to offshore sailing. Several Fastnet- and Giraglia races were part of my life whilst working in Paris and London. Then the first year of our marriage (with no kids) my wife and I bought a 36 ft X-Yacht, which we sailed extensively in Northern Europe. We made trips, of sometimes 7 weeks, to the UK, Norway and Denmark. The North Sea is a serious learning ground for tidal and weather sailing, making the whole crew, including our 3 sons true seamen. After 7 years with our first boat we bought a X 412, which we took to Norway on her maiden voyage. It was just my wife and I and our 3 young children. We have chartered on and off for many years enjoying the company.

Luxury sailing on Swan 65 exploring the Dodecanese

Pieter is a great skipper. We enjoyed 10 days sailing in the Dodecanese always safe and comfortable. The boat is amazing as she is maniacally cared of and full of unexpected equipment. Pieter can entertain for hours with stories of his sailing adventures and boat making and maintenance. Highly recommended

Offshore sailing on a Swan 65 from Sicily to Patras

This flight from Syracuse to Kefalonia in just 36 hours is unforgettable! Unforgettable the starry skies of the Mediterranean, the milky way and the moon contemplated in this offshore navigation on the oldest route to Greece. Pieter, own and skipper, proved to be skilled, experienced and as his friend Rob tireless sailors. Pieter has shown surprising resource in managing this navigation that in some moments has turned in a real adventure. And despite the effort required by the shifts of uninterrupted navigation, in my night of seakness, Pieter has found away to nurture me carefully. The boat proved to be an unsurpassable vessel! Enjoy!

Sail a Legend: the first Swan 65 from 1973
