About me

Nel 1995 ho iniziato a lavorare presso dei Diving come istruttore subacqueo utilizzando barche e gommoni a motore. La mia carriera ha proseguito presso molte località tropicali: dai mari Caraibici a quelli Maldiviani fino al 2001. Nel 2000, io e mia moglie abbiamo preso in gestione una barca di 36 mt alle Maldive, offrendo ai tour operator italiani la nostra disponibilità per offrire vacanze intorno alle Maldive. (Un successone indimenticabile !!!) Nel 2001 siamo rientrati in Italia diventando genitori, ma la nostra passione per il mare ha continuato a condizionare la nostra vita, acquistando diverse barche a motore. La svolta è avvenuta nel 2017 quando un' amico ci ha invitato in barca a vela. Tornati da questa esperienza, a Settembre, abbiamo deciso di acquistare una barca a vela e a Novembre siamo riusciti a trovare la nostra barca, una bellissima Bavaria 45 del 2010.

My experience

Da Novembre 2017 ho iniziato a dedicarmi totalmente alla barca a vela: mi sono tesserato FIV e ho partecipato a regate invernali a vele bianche. Avendo acquistato la barca a Marina di Ravenna, in Aprile ho deciso di fare il giro d'Italia e portarla a Marina di Grosseto (12 giorni da favola!). Da Maggio 2018, abbiamo navigato tutti i week end attorno all'arcipelago Toscano, soprattutto all' Isola D' Elba. Ad Agosto abbiamo fatto 4 settimane in giro per la Corsica e la Sardegna godendo di un meraviglioso periodo. Comunque da Novembre 2017 a oggi Novembre 2018 con la nostra barca abbiamo navigato per circa 2500 miglia.

Beautiful experience! A mini holiday full of unique landscapes, nature and new friendships. For most of the trips, the wind gave us the opportunity to use the sails. It takes a bit of adaptation to sharing spaces, but with a few tricks everything becomes manageable. A weekend to remember! Thank you Salvatore, you have passed on your passion for the sea and sailing.

The experience overall was pleasant from the point of view of the company: The captain is an experienced, sociable and definitely very talkative person, able to entertain the group with continuous stories and conversations. That said, expectations were different. In two nights and half a day of navigation we visited only two beaches on Elba, both easily accessible by land. I expected that a sailing experience would offer the opportunity to discover more hidden coves and places that are difficult to access, which represent the real added value of this type of holiday. Also considering that the island has two sides and that it is also possible to adapt the itinerary according to the wind, I think there was room to explore different areas and make the most of the time spent sailing. Overall, it is an experience that I would recommend especially to those looking for a convivial experience, with aperitifs, chats and moments of sociality on board, more than to those who want to experience sailing as an opportunity to contemplate authentic and less frequented places, for those who love the sea at 360 degrees.

The skipper is undoubtedly experienced and knowledgeable and the boat was clean, well maintained and spacious. Unfortunately, however, the overall experience was not positive. At the time of booking we were told that we would be nine customers, but the skipper's wife was also on board, without us being notified. His presence led to the occupation of a guest cabin, forcing three people to sleep in the dinette despite having paid the same fee as the others. In addition, during the three days we were not given information on the Island of Elba, the itinerary or the places visited. On Saturday we were practically stationary in the same spot for the whole day, despite the fact that several participants had asked to visit other bays. Greater involvement of the group in decisions on the itinerary would have been appreciated. Finally, at mealtimes and for most of the day, the skipper and his wife occupied most of the common areas, forcing some customers to eat standing up or in uncomfortable conditions. Overall, their presence was rather invasive, both in space and in life on board. I recognize the professionalism of the skipper in the management of the boat, but as far as the organization and management of the experience are concerned, I do not feel like recommending him and I would not book a holiday with him again.
