This is not simply a sailing holiday. It is an experience in which the sea becomes the real protagonist and navigation an integral part of the adventure.

Helming, adjusting the sails, maneuvering, plotting the course, checking the weather; Experience the sea 24 hours a day, sleep in turns, follow the wind and the waves, with nothing around.

It is an essential life, sometimes hard, but precisely for this reason capable of giving a feeling of freedom that is difficult to find elsewhere. The freedom to be away from it all, to leave the mainland behind and to rely on the wind to reach your destination.

And then there is the satisfactionof reaching the destination with one's own strength, of reaching distant places and discovering them from a perspective that only sailing can offer.

An experience for those who love the real sea, strong flavors and adventures that leave something inside and that are difficult to forget.

WARNING: On board there is Nao, our mascot, a hot-haired Jack Russel puppy, very affectionate, polite, and a very experienced ocean sailor!

OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION:

Before boarding a sailing boat, it is essential to know a few things.

SUITCASES: Spaces are limited, luggage must be contained; Avoid rigid suitcases, they are almost impossible to stow.
CLOTHING: It is essential to have a fleece, a light windbreaker, or a heavy k-way, preferably complete with trousers, long trousers of medium weight and a pair of thick socks (not cotton).
FOOTWEAR: On board you are mainly barefoot. Those who prefer can equip themselves with shoes with white soles to be used exclusively on board.

REFIT ANNO 2008 Il KOALA 50 è la barca di serie nata dal mitico 50 piedi CS&RB Busnelli, con cui nel 1973/74 Doi Malingri partecipò alla prima edizione della Whitbread Round The World Race. Il fratello Franco fu il project manager dell’imbarcazione curando la parte ingegneristica e prese parte alla “famigerata” seconda tappa tra Città del Capo e Sidney. Su questa barca si sono scritte tra le più importanti pagine della marineria italiana nonché si sono formati i più grandi skipper contemporanei, il CS & RB naviga ancora ed attualmente si trova nel Sud Pacifico. Acquistata nel 2008 è stata completamente restaurata ed ammodernata, mantenendo però integro il carattere ed il suo temperamento. Our itinerary

Departure from Madeira in the presence of a favorable weather window, with particular attention to the situation of the currents and the possible accelerations of the wind downwind of the island.

Once out towards the Atlantic Ocean, we will head southwest along the isobar, trying to intercept a stable trade wind.

The sail set will be adapted to the sailing conditions: mainsail with progressive reefing, genoa or jib and staysail ready for use. For downwind gaits, preventers on the boom and spinnaker pole will also be available.

During the crossing we will organize night guard shifts, keeping AIS and radars active. The weather will be monitored with an update every 3 hours, combining GPS navigation with the estimate, in order to have a redundant navigation system.

Particular attention will be paid to the management of the long wave and roll. For safety on deck, jacklines and tethers will be used.

As we approach Lanzarote, we may encounter wind accelerations in the area between La Graciosa and Lanzarote and possible wind rotations from the Northeast. Arrival will preferably be made during the day in Marina Lanzarote, with a possible alternative to Caleta del Sebo, if the sea conditions allow it.

A technical and adventurous crossing, between trade winds, the open ocean and, on the horizon, the spectacular volcanic scenery of the Canary Islands.

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.

This was a really good sailing trip. It was well organized, relaxed, and enjoyable. A special mention goes to Filippo, our skipper. He is not only a highly capable and experienced sailor but also a genuinely kind and welcoming person. He was always happy to listen to everyone’s ideas, adapt the itinerary when possible, and make sure everyone felt comfortable and involved. One of the biggest surprises of the trip was his cooking! Every day he prepared delicious meals and snacks that went far beyond what we expected on a sailing holiday. He is truly an amazing chef, and every meal became another highlight of the experience. We visited beautiful coves and stunning spots around Mallorca, enjoyed great sailing conditions, and shared unforgettable moments together. The atmosphere on board was always friendly, relaxed, and fun. And of course, Noa was the real star of the trip! She won everyone’s heart, and we all had so much fun playing with her throughout the week.

*Return to the helm* A parenthesis of the long-awaited – and missed – summer holidays, in a late October... where everything was perfectly aligned: ☀️ sun, 💨 wind up to 30 knots, unfurled sails and breathtaking destinations, among the most varied shades of sunrises and sunsets. The skipper? What can I say... An excellence in terms of safety, handling and upwind and crosswind. Even at night: impeccable navigation, always under full sail! I left alone, with the courage and the awareness that it would be an experience to be savored to the fullest. To be discovered and then left a trace. And so it was! Mouth-watering lunches and dinners, a wonderful and intense boat holiday, lived following and supporting the wave motion. I was amazed at the sight of dolphins with Es Vedrà in the background... a boat all for me and for my unexpected furry friend, **Nao**, the skipper's affectionate dog: a sweet and ever-present companion, a real **unexpected pet therapy** that made every moment even more special. And then, **back at the helm**... feel the force of the wind in your hands, the thrill of the route, the freedom that only the sea can give! Thank you, Filippo, and thanks also to Nao — it's been a long time since I sailed with the genuine enthusiasm of feeling the wind flow between jib and mainsail...
