Luxury catamaran cruise in the Cyclades

Very disappointing experience and well below expectations. The skipper arrived more than two hours late, the boat was in very poor hygienic condition and unusable, without apologizing. We 10 guests had to clean it for about three hours. Despite the promise of reimbursement, we were only paid about 11 euros per person, just over 3 euros per hour. We also lost half a day in port due to technical problems and faced about 24 hours of inconvenience due to the malfunction of the generator, water system and toilet. When faced with problems, we were only told: "It's not my fault". As captain and manager of the boat, he should have handled the situation with greater professionalism. The itinerary was not respected for weather reasons, according to the skipper, although the forecast in the Saronic Islands was similar to that of the Cyclades. Positive aspects: the beauty of the boat and the possibility of using the equipment for diving and fishing, as well as the company that was created with the other guests during the week.

Overall nice holiday but with some critical aspects. Initially the catamaran was not of the model confirmed for our trip, in fact our cabin had a shower without the glass cover so it flooded everything every day and there were no shutters for light on the windows. The sore point was the skipper, who did not meet the needs at all to make the group feel good. The first day before departure he told us the meal times (breakfast at 8 am, lunch at 1 pm and dinner at 7 pm), which immediately created general discontent. On vacation and especially with temperatures in August, thinking about respecting these holiday schedules becomes a nightmare. Although I pointed out, the answers on everything from the skipper were negative, so much so that I went so far as to shout in my husband's face for a trifle. Nothing was explained to us when we arrived on the islands and often to find a place in the ports we were forced to leave very early. Itinerary not with the sea that I would have expected. As for the hostess, on the other hand, she was very good and very attentive to our needs.

If we could give more than 5 stars, we'd give Greg & Aga a hundred — without a second thought. The photos speak for themselves, but trust me, there's so much more behind them: outstanding professionalism, many years of experience at sea, natural empathy, and a warmth that wins you over from day one. Plenty of laughter, real attention to every little detail and to our every need, genuine respect for the environment and for the local culture, and an authentic joy in the small things that is always overwhelming and contagious. And the catamaran is stunning! Greg is simply fantastic — the kind of skipper you trust completely from the very first moment, without a shadow of a doubt. A week with them and you forget about everything else. Constantly spoiled by their care and by Aga's (& T's) excellent cooking, and by the sailing lessons of the best skipper out there — with days paced only by the sun and the wind, and stops in authentic places, far from the usual routes. And one thing says it all: everyone truly loves Greg & Aga. In every port, in every taverna, we always felt at home and part of the family. Hands down one of the best holidays we've ever had. Thank you for this wonderful week. Dobra & Yamas! 🇬🇷⛵

Nicolò is an experienced skipper, empathetic, attentive to the needs of guests. He made us discover wonderful and isolated bays, even in the middle of August. Experience to be repeated!!!

6 reasons to explore Greece on a catamaran for your next sailing holiday:

  • Discover some of the world’s most beautiful coves and lagoons in the comfort of a catamaran.
  • Explore the thousands of Greek islands aboard a catamaran with a weak draft, allowing them to venture into shallower waters than a monohull - meaning you can travel with an unrivalled level of freedom!
  • Board a spacious catamaran, that allows a most comfortable sailing experience possible - especially when travelling as a family or a larger group!
  • As a catamaran has less movement at sea than a monohull sailboat, it is perfect for first time sailors, reducing any concerns about sea sickness.
  • Experience all of the treasures of Greece - including the famous isles of Santorini, Mykonos, and Ios as well as the native sirtaki dance of the street festivals.
  • Immerse yourself into the beautiful atmosphere and charming architecture of Greece’s coastal regions aboard a catamaran.

The best destinations to visit on your holiday to Greece aboard a catamaran:

Famous sailing areas include the Cyclades, the Saronic islands, Ionian islands, Dodecanese, Sporades, and Crete - however, there are an estimated 5,000-6,000 islands in Greece. Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini are some specific destinations that are particularly magical to explore by a sailing holiday.

Travelling the Greek isles by sailboat allows for full exploration of the areas treasures, that would otherwise be inaccessible. This is even more so the case when travelling by catamaran, due to the weak draft of the boat, meaning shallow waters inaccessible to many monohull boats can be explored! Whether you are planning to travel solo, as a couple, with friends or family, and whether you are looking for a sailboat or catamaran experience, there are numerous areas of Greece that make for perfect holidaying destinations. Learn more about sailing in Greece.

Tips to help you to better plan for your next sailing holidays in Greece aboard a catamaran:

When to visit Greece & transport options

Temperatures and the climate in Greece are pleasant and generally good for sailing from April through to November. Due to the fact that July and August are more popular for holidaying, if possible, it is worth considering travelling during May, June, September, or October if you would prefer a quieter, slightly more tranquil holiday.

Greece is home to a number of international airports such as Athens, Corfu, Kos, and Kefalonia. Greece has a well developed system of ferries that transport travellers from island to island. The organising skipper of any given trip will be able to give you the most relevant information about transport routes to and from your points of embarkment and disembarkment.

Sailing with a family aboard a catamaran with a local skipper

There are some sailing regions that are better suited and equipped for family sailing trips, and Greece is one of these regions. There is a good mix of modern marinas and harbouring options as well as more secluded bays and coves for you to enjoy with your family. All forms of sailing holiday with family holidays included, benefit greatly from having an experience local skipper leading the trip. Travelling with a skipper with such insider knowledge allows you to fully immerse yourself in the enjoyment, relaxation, and adventure of the sailing holiday in the Greek isles.
