Divertiamoci a Ibiza e Formentera in barca a vela!

Chiara P.

Italy

Paolo pretended to change the itinerary not because of weather problems but because "he decided", we had to call the charter manager to make him return to milder advice, after having been treated badly for two days because we wanted to agree on the itinerary. We saw very little, we left late and at 8 pm we were at anchor because there were no street lights since the beginning of the holiday (failure that Paolo denied with the manager). He often responded badly and made vulgar and inappropriate jokes. A disaster. ------------------------------------------SAUTHOR'S ANSWER------------------------------------------ Dear Mrs. Chiara, before leaving for the holiday I shared via chat and dropbox the itinerary planned for the holiday, so you should refer to that itinerary and not to what was reported to you by another member of the crew who booked the holiday not through Sailsquare. The request for modification of the itinerary, by a small group of the crew, was presented to me on Thursday morning and following the discussion I confirmed my intention to continue with the planned itinerary; in the same morning, you took the responsibility of calling the charter that hired me exposing your requests, in the very early afternoon following the "order from above" received I gave freedom to all the crew to decide what was the desired destination, the decision of the majority, coincidentally, was to continue with the itinerary I proposed thus spending a beautiful evening in the well-known local Blu Marlin. I emphasize that in a crew of 8 people I can not make detours at will of a single if not agreed with the group. Regarding the street lights I point out that the boat was delivered to me by the charterer with the green starboard light not working and the repair times would have forced us to leave a day late; knowing that the program did not include navigation at night I preferred to leave rather than lose a day, I highlight that the problem has been reported to you since the moment of boarding. Regarding "seen very little" and "we left late" I highlight that while doing the service with the tender to disembark the crew and re-embark it at 3 or 4 am my alarm clock has always been around 6 in the morning, the departures from the bays were bound to the wake-up and breakfast times of the crew and also the places visited were those from the program delivered by me. As for being in the bay at 20-20:30 it was normal to be able to find a suitable and safe mooring (in a period of overcrowding) and to make you enjoy the excellent sunsets that Ibiza and Formentera can offer. Regarding inappropriate vulgar jokes and incorrect ways of responding I wonder if by chance he did not exchange me with some other member of the crew, I have never allowed myself to be vulgar or rude as the majority of crew members can confirm; and from what has been expressed above highlights the falsity of her statement "having treated her badly for two days" as the problem was solved in a handful of hours. I also think it is superfluous to specify that it is the responsibility of the captain to implement what is most appropriate to the safety of the crew, so where and how to moor, when, which routes, where to stop at times when thunderstorms are expected are decisions that only the commander can take (we have all been able to see that in the week from 11 to 18 August we were hit by more than one violent storm). I invite you for the future, before writing incorrect reviews, to confront the commander listening to the reasons for the choices and not to make reviews based on the statements of other people, I do not know that she has ever stopped to talk to me asking for explanations or directly expressing her wishes.
