Summary: lack of hospitality and cleanliness (dust and stale stains, dirty dishes, ...). Not recommended.
Some symptomatic episodes of malaise on board:
1) agreed for a double cabin and private bathroom, we are placed in the 2 berths on the sides of the cockpit staircase, shared bathroom.
2) during a swim near the boat the captain moves the boat 400 meters, leaving me among the other boats without a signal buoy. When asked, he replied that his priority was the boat.
3) smell of gasoline in the "cabin". Questioned the captain denies. After two days of sleeping in the cockpit we discovered the leak of gasoline that caused infiltration at the stern.
4) delivered the groceries in front of the boat parked, after 45 min we find the fruit, dairy products and eggs under the sun. The captain, who remained on board and warned, had not moved a finger.
5) at sea the captain throws into the sea a bottle of beer that he had just consumed, justifying himself: "the glass does not pollute".-----------------------SLOOUTHOR's REPLY----------------------------------I consider it appropriate to make these clarifications.
1) it is quite clear that the holiday I proposed is a holiday on a sailing boat, for sailors, and not in a dinghy, as - inaccurately - he interpreted Mr. Daniele, who showed up at boarding with equipment that occupied an entire bed.
(2) from the outset, Mr. Daniele has expressed his non-compatibility with a sailing holiday asking to go on depths of 50 meters .... and to wait there for his dives, with this also manifesting the total ignorance in order to the fact that a sailboat always moves and is not a rubber dinghy that is there waiting for the diver to complete his dive.
I tried to make Mr. Daniele that on board there were other people who chose sailing and that their point of view should also be respected.
However, Mr. Daniele, in the days when we were moored at Asinara, was able to make all the dives he wanted, even using the tender at the service of the boat and can not complain about anything.
He should have , Mr. Daniele, appreciate - and a lot - the collaborative attitude of Francesca and Roberto when, to allow him to dive, it was decided to make a substantial change to the itinerary, pointing directly to the other end of the gulf, to the Isola Rossa, with a whole day of navigation and equally on the return, and allowing Mr. Daniele to arrive in time to do his dive accompanied by the others with the tender and taken back on board after some time.
I really regret that this gesture of availability was not taken up by Mr. Daniel. But so much so.....
3) as for the complaint about cleaning, on the site it is well specified that the guaranteed cleaning is the initial and final one: after all, the washing of cutlery and dishes was provided by Mr. Daniele and his girlfriend, so... imputet sibi.....
(4) as regards the fact of the change of berth, Mr. Daniele (know) to read a nautical chart and would discover that the total width of the bay of the Fornelli is about 1000 meters or a little more than half a mile. Taking into account that the roadstead was very crowded, I gave bottom to the anchor and Mr. Daniele went down into the water to do the usual dive.
When I realized that we were too close to a boat to safely spend the night at anchor, I winged the anchor and moved 4-6 boat lengths, at most 100 meters.
Mr. Daniele said that I moved 400 meters. (measure that the same, being in the water, we do not know how he did to draw up), and calculating that the total width is the one I indicated, you can clearly see that he has fallen into a gross and gratuitous error. After all, I had on board the other guests who have always monitored the position of Mr. Daniele who, accustomed, according to him, to descend to a depth of 40 meters, could not run any danger to travel 100 meters swimming ..... But so much so.....
5) the question of gasoline lies in these terms: I bought a new tank on Saturday morning just before departure (circumstance known to Mr. Daniele) which, however, turned out to be defective in the closure cap, which I could not foresee.
To the complaints of Mr. Daniele, I remedied it, pouring the residual gasoline into plastic bottles.
6. Daniele, before choosing the sailing holiday, I hope he had the foresight to see the plans of the boat, from which you can see its structure.
He and his fiancée occupied the double cabin, consisting of a double bed and more walled, entirely occupied by the huge luggage of the same, heavy and bulky. The bathroom has two doors, and is used (with great discretion) by myself.
7) I regret that Mr. Daniele did not appreciate the fact that, contrary to what was planned, the boarding and provision of the galley (in which, although not held, I personally participated) were anticipated so as to have allowed the crew to leave the moorings long before 4 pm on Saturday, the scheduled time for boarding.
With regard to the galley of Isola Rossa, Mr. Daniele would have liked that the undersigned, who does not belong, would have to provide for his care while he was comfortably seated at the bar to have breakfast.
Ultimately. To Mr. Daniele, evidently, is not interested in sailing and what follows, in all terms, being his perspective linked to apnea and underwater fishing and nothing else.
Pouring out on others and on things a certain dissatisfaction can also be licit but we must be objective, not instrumental, and above all intellectually honest.
