This experience, in a nutshell

We are Annalisa and Emanuel, a couple of skippers who spend six months a year in the Dodecanese, an archipelago of over 163 islands and islets where the beauty of unspoiled nature blends with the richness of Greek culture. Our itineraries are called "SECRET DODECANESE" because they are born from the love for these islands and the desire to share their most beautiful and hidden treasures with our guests.

Our route

The South Dodecanese offers its visitors both magnificent deserted bays, where nature dominates unchallenged, and beautiful medieval villages or colorful neoclassical architecture. The itinerary is a nice mix of activities because it includes a lot of sailing, sea life, hiking and visits to natural and man-made treasures. We will abandon ourselves to the slow life of these islands where you can already breathe the air of the East. We will sail pushed by the bearing winds for the first part to the south and then we will face a navigation upwind and across, therefore, it will be a very varied experience for sailing lovers. The sea and air temperature is slightly higher in this area than in the north of the Dodecanese, and the winds are generally gentler.

Life on board

Barca is synonymous with freedom, so ours are always offered and everyone is free to choose how to spend their time. On board you can take part in the management of the boat, sunbathe, read, chat. There are fins and masks for snorkeling and a dinghy with outboard to reach the beaches or to go ashore and explore the islands. We take care of the preparation of meals on the boat, because in addition to our passion for the sea and sailing, we also like to cook. If anyone shares this passion, they are welcome in the kitchen! Fixing up, on the other hand, is a team game, everyone does their part. Sometimes we will have dinner on land in typical taverns where we can taste the cuisine of the Dodecanese, a treasure trove of Mediterranean flavors with Middle Eastern influences from neighboring Turkey.

With

the

sky always clear and the wind that fills the sails, we will discover the islands of our itinerary. The wind and the sea will show us the best path to follow. With 25-30 knots of wind in the tails or downwind, sailing is a pleasure; If upwind, sailing can become challenging, therefore, itineraries are always at the discretion of the skippers who are responsible for the well-being and safety of the crew. And, by the way, often the best things happen when they are not planned.

Our trip ends here:

Kardamena.

Leg 1

Saturday: Yali

Departure from Kardamena, island of Kos to Yali, the white island of pumice where we will spend a lazy day exploring Caribbean bays and seabed. A short walk at sunset to greet the sun with a toast, dinner on the boat and a night at anchor under the stars.

Saturday: Yali

Leg 2

Sunday: North Tylos

We'll sail south along the volcanic island of Nysiros and head to Tylos. A natural oasis and geological park, it is the world's first zero-waste island. We will drop anchor near the pebble beach of Livadia, the largest on the island, where we will spend the night at anchor or in the small marina, with dinner at the restaurant.

Sunday: North Tylos

Leg 3

Monday: South Tylos

A paradise of deserted bays and crystal clear seabeds where we will spend our third day, completely immersed in nature and away from everything. We will sleep at anchor under the stars, lulled by the waves.

Monday: South Tylos

Leg 4

Tuesday: Nysiros

Practically an island in the shape of a volcano. It has no natural landings, only small villages. We will moor in Paloi which will be our base to visit by car the black sand beach, the cyclopean-walled castro and the town of Mandraki with the beautiful black pebble beach.

Leg 5

Wednesday: Pergoussa

We'll take a nice sail using the uninhabited island of Pergoussa as a buoy and stop to swim in its crystal clear waters rich in marine fauna. In the afternoon we will return to Nysiros to visit the Agios Stefanos volcano and have dinner in a medieval village overlooking the volcano.

Wednesday: Pergoussa

Leg 6

Thursday: South Kos

In the morning we will

depart for Kefalos, the cape of Kos with a stop in Agios Stefanos, for a swim and bell ringing at the monastery on the water and then we will sail east and the thermal baths of volcanic origin, for another bath. We'll continue to Kos Town, where we'll explore the alleys of the old town and the vestiges of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, medieval, and Italian origins. History can already be breathed from the port, bordered by the massive walls of the Fortress of the Knights of St. John, a stone's throw from the plane tree where, according to legend, Hippocrates taught the art of medicine to his students.

Thursday: South Kos

Leg 7

Friday: Disembarkation in Kos Town

The harbour below the old fortress is within easy reach of Kos' main attractions, including the Archaeological Museum where you can admire sculptures from the Hellenistic and late Roman periods, the Castle of the Knights, and the ancient Agora with the ruins of the Sanctuary of Aphrodite, the Temple of Heracles and a Christian basilica.

LAST MINUTE! - The secrets of the small Dodecanese islands between history and culture

10/8/2023

Christoph R.

Ottima vacanza! Sonia Amelotti

The secrets of the small islands of the Dodecanese between nature and relaxation

08/17/2023

Daniela S.

We spent a full week with Emanuel and Annalisa and those days will truly remain in our hearts forever. It was our first sailboat trip and, seriously, it will be tough to experience anything better than that. Mivida is a beautiful boat, well kept and super clean (before welcoming new passengers they sanitize each room and common area!). We were/are not knowledgeable about sailboats, so what made the difference for us was the “human factor”. E&A’s picture really reflects their personalities: they’re kind, always smiling, super fun, flexible - trust me, our group launched some culinary challenges - great cooks (still dreaming about the delicious food we tried there), are always keen to teach you how to sail and let you practice. If you are interested in local curiosities, just ask them, they know everything and will not refrain from sharing the most interesting details with you! Wrapping up - beautiful bays+blue crystal water+dreamy sunsets+delicious food+ awesome squad = Best holiday!
