The Gulf of Trieste, Grado, Aquileia, Slovenia and Istria:

We will set sail from Monfalcone, but those who are dormant will be able to choose whether to set sail to Grado, about 15 miles west of Monfalcone, or visit Slovenia with the enchanting Piran or go to Istria as far as Poreč.

In Grado you will find the Early Christian Basilicas of Santa Eufemia, with the Baptistery, and that of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

In your free time, you can stroll through the beautiful historic center of this ancient fishing village founded in the fifth century by the inhabitants of Aquileia who fled from the Huns and from which the first colonizers of Venice departed.

Aquileia, reachable by public service from Grado. Aquileia, the Second Rome, an important river port, was the most advanced point of the Roman conquest towards the East from the second century BC. You can visit the Early Christian Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta with the crypt of frescoes, the bell tower, the baptistery and its floor mosaic, the largest in Europe and the oldest that has come down to us in this condition.

You can go to the river port and visit the forum.

In the evening, in Grado, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the original Grado cuisine based on fish caught in the sea in front of the island in numerous and excellent restaurants after relaxing at the Thermal Baths...

Piran is a charming Venetian village. Piran, with its beautiful old town, hides the jewel of the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the following days we will sail to one of the beautiful coastal sites of Istria: Poreč, Novigrad or Rovinj from which we can return with a nice sail home.
