This experience, in a nutshell

A weekend on a sailing boat along the east coast of Corfu, the island of the Phaeacians,  one of the seafaring peoples narrated in the Odyssey. The departure and arrival base will be the headquarters of the Corfu Sailing Club, inside the Old Venetian Fortress, built on the promontory that divides the Gulf of Kerkyra and the bay of Garitsa. We will be carried by the wind along the narrow channel that separates Corfu from the mainland: to the south, skirting between the east coast of the island, the port of Petriti and that of Sivota on the mainland, site of the naval battle between Corinth and Corfu in 433 BC, to the north visiting the picturesque towns of the island such as Santo Stefano or Kassiopi. A weekend of sailing, manoeuvres at the helm, wind and good food!

Our skippers are sailing instructors. and teambuilding.

Your skipper will be Rino!

Leg 1

Corfu: history and beauty

If the arrival times are favorable, we can decide to move for a first step to the nearest islands and sleep in the bay or stay and spend the night in Corfu, worthy of a visit with dinner in a typical Greek tavern.

Corfu: history and beauty

Leg 2

Petriti / Sivota

Depending on the weather, we can head to Petriti, a characteristic fishing village, or Sivota with a stop in the bay on the adjacent islands.

Leg 3

Paxos: created by Poseidon

With the mistral wind we will reach the island of Paxos with its enchanting bays Lakka and Gaios.

Leg 4

Return to Corfu

There will therefore be no shortage of miles to do, heading to Corfu and, if you have enough time, stopping at the islands opposite. The arrival is scheduled in the same marina in the ancient Venetian fortress.

Nice holiday in the blue of the sky and the sea!! On the other hand, the return to the gray sky and traffic of Bergamo was challenging

I was so excited to go sailing in Greece. This dream unfortunately took a quick turn into a nightmare. The captain didn’t take us to any of the sites listed on the itinerary. We stayed close to the original port the whole trip. We would ask him each day to go to one of the listed places and he would just ignore the suggestions. He would also blame it each day on the weather yet we had beautiful weather the whole trip, minus the first day. The boat itself was constantly breaking down. We had a broke toilet which was not a plus. But the worst part of the trip was when the captain used the outside shower in front of myself and a few of the other girls on the boat. He proceeded to take his swim shorts off deliberately flashing his private parts to us. All the lady’s became super uncomfortable on the boat afterwards. It was super inappropriate. Would highly recommended spending your money elsewhere. Was a horrific experience.

The holiday did not go as I hoped and the main sore point is given by the skipper. It felt more like being in prison than on vacation. Rino did nothing but list prohibitions, he had a know-it-all and always annoyed tone. He had the constant habit of walking around the boat early in the morning, banging his feet forcefully near the cabins and managed the doors of the cabins as he pleased, opening and closing them even while we were inside. What is even more serious, in my opinion he disrespected us on at least two occasions by taking off his swimsuit in front of everyone to shower naked without even notifying us. A really unprofessional behavior. As for the itinerary, unfortunately it was not respected despite the weather conditions were favorable. Apart from the first day when we witnessed a storm, in all the following days not a leaf flew. If there had been the skipper's will, we could have easily arrived in Paxos (which we did not see). We have returned several times to the same places despite countless requests to see something new. We sailed a maximum of two hours a day, we practically paid for his vacation since for the rest of the time he was lying in the shade reading! Finally, I found the location of the marina inconvenient (although suggestive inside the fortress) as you have to walk at least twenty minutes on foot between stairs and climbs to reach the supermarket. I would suggest a more accessible marina considering that when you do a week's shopping for 6 people you don't go back to the boat with a few envelopes.
