Different Flotilla: Party and new friends in the Aeolian Islands

09/3/2024

vincenza c.

I hardly write reviews, but I particularly care about this one. Because I see a very strong potential in this experience but, some small flaws to be solved would make it unique. Our boat had a problem with the icebox, not insignificant for guys who want to have fun drinking a cocktail, but in the end, adapting A LOT, and with the right company, we got away with it. It was not my first time on a boat but it was my first flotilla. The two parties organized all together were fun beyond expectations and hilarious. I would review the choice of the trips made in the late morning, in the previous experience I woke up and I was already in a new cove, the navigation time maybe I would have managed it differently, but I want to justify the choice with the climatic difficulties and the need for an "emergency" navigation program. Thank you Vincenza

Fantastic and unique experience - Exceptional flotilla organization. The only point of attention to make the experience perfect is the communication of the activities and the need for booking when disembarking on the different islands. Communication was not always timely, so we had to opt for last-minute choices

Where to start? Honestly I don't know, it was all but I mean everything so magical (I anticipate that I will repeat it often, because it was all actually magical!) and special that I don't really know where to start. So I want to tell you about it from the beginning, from when I decided to book, that's where the journey really began, from the availability of the Sailsquere staff who with precision and punctuality (Santa Alessandra!!) answered all my questions (many) and transformed all my worries (few) into certainties! So here we go: we book... months in advance (strange for me that I have the last second as a lifestyle) so much was the desire! August 10th, Portorosa: the magic begins!! Meeting with the others in the group, galley arrangement, presentation of the staff dinner of pizza and treats, and here I would like to share a note to the staff: I would have made at least 1 pizza each and not "first come, most magna". Early in the morning we set sail to conquer the Aeolian Islands!! I was lucky enough to happen to be on Simone's catamaran head skipper whose sense of responsibility during the week particularly struck me as well as the organizational ability and availability towards everyone, staff and guests like the great Paolo Pablito co-skipper and fantastic DJ in our parties (Bob Sinclar shunned !!). Chapter parties: exceptional, engaging sound, everyone was dancing... but really everyone, indeed I take the opportunity to thank Pablito for satisfying me in the request for a song (small gesture that added yet another joy to the week!). Another magic: navigation! Being the first boat during all the trips, observing the movements of the flotilla, 11 boats including 2 catamarans and 9 sailboats, was something exceptional, at times exciting both day and night when we were lucky enough to see the sciara del fuoco off Stromboli until we arrived at Lisca Bianca at night, where I was struck by Simone's self-sacrifice in making the package practically in the dark illuminated only by a torch and the stars. That night will remain particularly impressed on us... imagining the smiles of my travel companions when they read this part of the review😂. Emotions over??? Also not!! A whirlwind of surprises between the bath in the sulphurous water of Lisca Bianca, Alfredo's cunzato bread (a must try!! - a little less the granita to be honest) the star package with mega festoon off the Pumice Quarry in Lipari whose spectacular images have been immortalized by Andrea and Daniela who have made their passion their job that with videos and photos have made everything even more incredible, literally beyond all my wildest expectations. I hope you read this review, because even publicly I want to thank you once again for everything, including the tip on the cannoli eaten at the port of Lipari, Casa d'Ambra for those who will read is a certainty!! A separate chapter for Panarea where we had the opportunity to go ashore, a crazy island, magical colors and beautiful places. The aperitif at the Raja is to be done without ifs and buts!! Another small note: honestly you could have made us reserve better tables, ours in particular was practically in the kitchen. That said, all my understanding was still the week of mid-August, but feedback must be constructive in my opinion and I wanted to tell you. Among the most exciting things, the evening of Ferragosto: DJ set in the middle of the sea, at night, with the moon watching us and seemed to dance with us is among the things I wish to try to all the people dear to me!! The package... jumping from one boat to another... music... the gadgets made the FluoHawaiianParty unforgettable, one of those things that you will tell your children and grandchildren one day!! The only sad thing??? The return to Portorosa! Worse still... the return to Catania airport!! The best thing??? memories of this fantastic adventure!! The kick in the ass??? The people I shared this experience with!! Thanks also to the Sailsquere staff who made us stay on the same boat!! For those who will read with the indecision whether to book or not??? BOOK!!!! BOOK NOW!! Huh... no... they don't pay me to say it (hey staff a centello I wouldn't mind though🤣)... But that's what I recommend to anyone who has asked me what I did this summer or doesn't know what to do next summer!! I want to be honest and clear with everyone: the difficulties are there, it is not certain that you have the same luck as me with the other people on board, but if you know how to adapt and adapt a little, you love the sea and life on a boat, you have this experience!! Thank you Sailsquare, thank you Different Sailing!! W Barbie, Ken and the Unicorn!! Those who were on board Ploto know... 😁
