After a year of work and sacrifices we book a week Cagliari-Carloforte. The summary: week to forget apart from the friendship born with the other couple who was on the boat with us. The premise is that on the second day the boat broke (it can happen) even if the breakdowns were two different ... and the skipper instead of working to quickly resolve the situation and agree with us a solution for the 3 days that we remained stationary "preferred" to create a glacial climate inside the boat using rude ways to say the least! Anything can happen but education is the basis in relationships especially if you want to work with guests paying your service. Despite our NOT presence on the boat for the 3 days (organized at our expense) he told us to DISEMBARK !! Bad experience ! Skipper even more!! PS: Galley paid by weight of gold is made by the skipper (usually it is at least agreed) and scarce food ----- SKIPPER ANSWER ---- First of all, Giuliano's companion, already from the first day showed a certain impatience when I pointed out that due to the presence of strong wind and wave, we could have moored only in sheltered and safe bays. The lady pointed out to me annoyed, that she also wanted to do other beaches, although these could not allow safety on board, a priority task of a skipper.
After Monday afternoon, the boat broke down. Something unusual for us, as we maniacally follow the constant maintenance of the boat, but it can happen!
Obviously I can get to a safe port, where I can stay the time necessary for repair.
P.S.: by contract, in case of damage to the boat, nothing is due to the renter for the first 48 hours from the event, but can only be compensated for the period not used exceeding 48h ...
We are therefore in port on Monday evening! We load the share of the port, without making it weigh to the crew.
The next day (Tuesday), I personally take care of the recovery of the spare part, taking a rental car and arriving in Cagliari, for the purchase.
At the same time, on the same day on Tuesday, in order not to keep guests stationary in the boat, "at our expense" we find a boat and a skipper who will lead Mr. Giuliano B. and companions to a pleasant day at sea, compensating for the bays and beaches not previously visited ... So it doesn't seem to me that they "lost a day"!!
Already in the early morning of Wednesday, the boat was repaired and perfectly able to resume the sea. But due to a significant worsening weather, it was not possible to sail safely. It was therefore decided to stay one more day in port, taking advantage of the neighboring beaches. But it should be noted that the Wednesday stop was not due to the damage (now resolved), but for the bad weather conditions present, stop among other things already scheduled from the previous days. In the evening we organized an evening with dinner in the neighboring farm. At the end of this dinner I was threatened in a heavy way and at the limit of physical confrontation, by the guests. Reason why, they were invited to leave the boat, receiving reimbursement of the days not used!! Refund accepted by Mr. Giuliano B. who with this resolved the rental, as agreed.
On the fact that it "created a glacial climate", well it was perhaps taken as "glacial" the fact that I was busy solving the mechanical problem quickly and maybe I had quick ways, but never rude and even less offensive ... How was I treated by the above, with verbal and physical threats!!
As for the food, I do not answer, but I believe that the dozens of other reviews that our guests send us at the end of the holiday with us can answer, where they praise Betty's cuisine and the amount of food offered ... In this regard, I would like to point out that a couple of evening dinners on board, Mr. Giuliano B. and the other guests, have repeatedly "advanced" food, considering themselves satisfied!!
It does not seem to me that this is synonymous with scarcity!!
Having said that, I am sorry for the technical inconvenience, but I do not accept being told that I did not act promptly!! In less than 36 hours from the event at sea, the boat and crew were secured, identified the problem and solved! We have charged all the mooring fees and in the meantime we have found a satisfactory alternative solution, so as not to lose the day to the guests, all at our expense ... If this is "creating a glacial climate", well we have different points of view.
