This experience, in a nutshell

Leaving the beautiful Genoa, its historic center, the promenade by the sea, we will skirt the Ligurian coast of Ponente up to Porto Maurizio in Imperia, with its pastel houses of the old city clinging to the promontory. In the historic center you can breathe the seafaring tradition of the city which, not surprisingly, hosts the regattas of vintage boats.

A nice sail and here we are in France on the spectacular Côte d'Azur.

Immediately after the bay of Antibes we will find the much larger bay of Juan Le Pen and Cannes with the Lerins islands: S.Te Marguérite, St. Fereole and St. Honorat. If the weather permits, it will be beautiful to anchor and enjoy the sunset in the sea between the first two. A few hours of sailing and we will arrive in the famous, worldly, but still delightful St. Tropez.

Ten miles of navigation and on the horizon we will find the Hyeres Islands, among the most beautiful in the Mediterranean protected by a natural park. Of the four that make up the archipelago, the largest and most famous island is Porquerolles, which gives its name to the archipelago: very green, with sheer cliffs to the south and beautiful bays to the north, it is certainly worth a stop and a visit on land, perhaps renting a bicycle. Not to be outdone are the Ile du Levant, the first we will encounter, Port Cros, the highest, and the small Ile De Bagaud. There are many coves to explore, where you can take amazing baths and where you can admire fabulous sunsets: the Baie de Langustier, the Plage d'Argent, the Plage de Courtade, the Baie d'Alicastre.

Once this is done, full of beauty and nature, we will turn towards the lively Saint Raphael. For enthusiasts, the Museum of Underwater Archaeology is interesting with finds ranging from the fifth century BC to the fifth century AD. The Lerin Islands are also worth a visit. Not far away we will find the bay of Villefrance, enclosed by steep coasts and pleasantly dotted with patches of green. Up the sails! and here we are again in Italy, in Sanremo, with its flower market, the largest in the world.

There are many places that we will meet on the return journey. Among these, the delightful town of Loano is worth a stop as well as a nice swim in the surroundings of the islands of Bergeggi and Gallinara

Disembarkation at Genoa is scheduled for the evening of Friday 23 August.

Great sailing from Athens to Mykonos in the Cyclades

Riccardo is a good person but the boat was not prepared to welcome guests, particularly in terms of cleanliness and order. Some episodes, which by an expert person should and could have been predicted and dealt with calmly, generated unnecessary anxiety (lack of fuel in the tender, staysail rigged at the last minute in critical circumstances, disorderly mooring and unmooring maneuvers, instructions to the crew not given sufficiently in advance and clarity, etc.). A general perception of approximation has generated a feeling of insecurity and discomfort which has unfortunately negatively affected the serenity and enjoyment of the holiday.

Great sailing from Athens to Mykonos in the Cyclades

I participated in a week on a sailing boat with high expectations, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing in many ways. First of all, the spaces on board were extremely limited: I had to sleep outside every night due to the lack of comfort inside and I was not the only one to do so. In addition, the boat turned out to be quite dirty and poorly maintained, which negatively affected the stay. The skipper, although probably with years of navigation behind him, seemed to me not very suitable for this type of experience. In addition to obvious communication difficulties (he often did not hear), he completely lacked initiative. He seemed more on vacation than us: he didn't help with daily activities, and in general he didn't make himself useful, behaving more like a guest than like a person on board. From a technical point of view, I didn't feel particularly confident. The skipper, in my opinion, no longer had the physical strength necessary to manage the maneuvers: in seven days we opened the sails only twice, and always with great caution, out of fear. On a sailing holiday, you would expect to... sail. A real shame, because the company and the sea were wonderful. But with different and more professional management, the experience could have been totally different. I hope that the organization will think seriously about these aspects.

Athens, Delphi, Patras and the excitement of the Corinth Canal

The trip was very nice, we were able to visit Delphi which for me was the best part of the trip. Riccardo is a good person and a good sailor, but he hardly speaks English or French, which was a problem when it came to communicating with us and with the marinas. He could not understand his instructions and became very nervous when performing the maneuvers. I should have specified that you need some experience to travel with him. He gets very nervous and starts shouting in Italian. He is quite old, I think he would have to sail alone in Italy, which is his comfort zone. The boat is small ideal for 4. To be honest, I don't think I'll travel with him again. But Greece is wonderful

Skipper is not speaking English at all, however he marked language knowledge on his profile . The communication issues made strange situations on the boat. Boat wasn't 100% clean when we were onboarded and we were also not allowed to use the inside showers on the boat (we had no stops in Ports with shower opportunities during the cruise )
