This experience, in a nutshell

The starting point is located in the bay of Baratti, an ancient Etruscan port used for the trade and processing of ferrous materials in the area. It is an uncontaminated place, there are no infrastructures, but only the large bay and the buoy field on which the landing stands, as well as a couple of refreshment places overlooking the gulf. All boats are moored in the roadstead, at the buoys, and can be easily reached from the pier with the port service.

The appointment is for Friday afternoon from 18.00 to 20.00 in Baratti, at the pier.

From Baratti we set sail on Saturday morning for the Island of Elba: the nearest point is only 7 miles away, but usually we sail to the bay of Biodola or the Gulf of Procchio. In the evening you can stay at anchor, or go to the port of Marciana Marina, a very nice village.

On Sunday we will move towards Capo d'Enfola, where we can moor in the bay and swim, then we can visit the White Beaches of Portoferraio, entire expanses of small white stones, with crystal clear water. Finally we will head towards Baratti and take a last swim at the Buca delle Fate, a very pretty bay before the Gulf.

During navigation you can devote yourself to the maneuvers of the sails, or to steer the boat at the helm, learning or improving your experience: for those who wish you can also do a little school and even a little charting. Those who want to rest can enjoy the bow sundeck, letting the boat take us to our destination. There will be no shortage of snacks from the kitchen, which always make all sailors happy at any time of the day, waiting for lunch or dinner.

We will have time for swimming, but also to visit the villages we will touch, mainly Marciana Marina and Porto Azzurro, as a second itinerary.

Our itinerary

Saturday morning we leave Baratti for the Island of Elba, in particular the Gulf of Procchio or Biodola. In the evening we can go to Marciana Marina, or stay at anchor.

In the morning we will head towards Capo d'Enfola, then towards the White Beaches and then we will head towards Baratti, where we will arrive on Sunday afternoon by 17.00.

Alternatively, starting from Baratti we can head towards the Gulf of Porto Azzurro, stopping in the Seno d'Ortano bay. In Porto Azzurro we can moor in the port, or spend the night in the roadstead (in this case we can also go ashore with the tender to visit the town). On Sunday we will stop at Cala dell'Alga, and then head towards Baratti, taking the last swim in Buca delle Fate, a small bay, before the Gulf.

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.

Sailing week in the Tuscan Archipelago: relaxing bays and beautiful islands!

Skipper Alessandro competent, balanced and up to handle many situations but the boat is poorly equipped, lacking numerous basic equipment such as fridge, oven, light and cockpit table, anchor winch engine and tender, sink of the 2nd bathroom and kitchen pots. However, the holiday was wonderful thanks to the skill and collaboration of the skipper Alessandro.

Unfortunately, I can only confirm what was written by the other crew members. Alessandro's sympathy and competence are not discussed, but the boat is really very tanned. Without wanting to go into details (already listed in previous reviews), my particular regret is that the initial program has been totally overturned. I had chosen this opportunity to sail for the Tuscan Archipelago; instead, due to the bad organization and the problems of the boat, we limited ourselves to the usual tour of the island of Elba ... I also believe that Sailsquare should supervise the boats it proposes on its portal

On a human level, our skipper Massimo (brother of Alessandro, with whom we did a flotilla) proved to be capable, nice, helpful and integrated into the group. Whenever possible he also let us go sailing. Therefore the vote for the skipper itself is positive. Unfortunately ruined by the boat, which instead had many flaws, as well as having only 2 cabins for 7 people (but this was written in the ad): small and rowing tender (= very low possibility of using it), no table in the cockpit (instead occupied by the rudder), very little space to lie down. But above all there was always something that broke, from the water pump to the ladder to go down on deck, to the genoa... in short, a small, old and poorly maintained boat. Organization a little too "day-to-day", given the high season and the full ports. It is also a pity that of the entire tour of 4 islands planned, only Elba was made. The holiday was still very pleasant thanks to the group!

Unfortunately and reluctantly I can only confirm what was written in the previous reviews. Alessandro is a good person as well as a good skipper; Maneuvers and knowledge of the sea are not discussed. Unfortunately, the boat has serious problems (I avoid listing them out of pity) such as to make an acceptable "guesting" service impossible. The tour was reduced to a part of Elba, I would have liked to see more...
