This experience, in a nutshell

Spending Christmas on a sailing boat in the Egadi Islands is an unforgettable experience!

The Egadi Islands are jewels set in western Sicily and nicknamed the "Caribbean" of Sicily.

The Egadi archipelago is located at the western end of Sicily, a few miles from Trapani, and is composed of the islands of Favignana, Levanzo, Marettimo.

Our comfort & all-inclusive mini cruise includes departure from Trapani, with a sail to Favignana, the most famous of the Egadi Islands, with stops in the most famous coves and cultural tour, and to the wild island of Levanzo.

Aegusa and the butterfly-shaped island

Aegusa is the ancient Phoenician name for the island, but not only. This name that comes from afar and carries within it a precious history, is also the name chosen by Vincenzo Florio for one of his most successful oenological treasures.

Once you disembark in Favignana, you will only need a few steps on foot to come across the first visible trace of the Florios. It is a real tribute to Ignazio Florio, to whom the islanders have dedicated a statue located in Piazza Europa.

It is only the first of many signs of the importance of the family for the island, Treat yourself from here to a walk along the seafront and through the streets adjacent to the old port, and then visit the most famous places: you will feel like you have gone back in time.

Palazzo Florio: Art Nouveau in Favignana

It will be one of the first things you will see when you land on the island: Palazzo Florio has a cheeky charm that recalls the atmosphere of the late nineteenth century and is very reminiscent of the Villino Florio in Palermo.

In the years of the Belle Époque, the Palace became a crossroads of the crowned heads of half of Europe, hosted by the most glamorous couple of the moment, that of Donna Franca and Ignazio Florio jr.

The Tonnara, the symbolic place of the Florio family

For a journey through the history of Favignana you cannot miss a visit to the Florio tuna fishery. Officially called the Former Florio Plant of the Favignana and Formica tuna fisheries, it includes the spaces of the tuna fisheries with an adjoining establishment for the conservation of the catch. With its 32 thousand square meters, it is one of the largest tuna fisheries in the Mediterranean.

Tasting a glass of Aegusa in front of the sunset in Favignana will be a unique emotion, which you will carry back with you forever, when you return from your trip.

Are you ready to set sail for the Egadi Islands?

Favignana is waiting for you, with all its poignant and irresistible beauty!

Leg 1

Day 1: Trapani

The origins of Trapani are linked to its geographical conformation and mythological legends, but the first historical traces date back to the Elymians, a people who settled in western Sicily before the eleventh century BC.

The city then became an important commercial port under the Phoenicians, thanks to its strategic position, and over the centuries it was a fundamental center for the Romans, Arabs (who called it Itrabinis) and Normans.

A legend has it that the god Cronus (or Saturn, in the Latin tradition) lost his scythe while moving away from Sicily and, falling into the sea, the scythe turned into the peninsula of Trapani, hence the Greek name Drepanon, which means sickle.

WHAT TO SEE IN TRAPANI:

The famous Pink Sunsets

The historic center with its churches and characteristic streets.

The promenade that runs along the coast.

Ligny Tower

The overnight stay is provided on a boat at the port of Trapani.

Leg 2

Day 2: Favignana

After breakfast we set sail for Favignana, the largest of the Egadi Islands, formerly called Aegusa and known for its butterfly shape.

During the navigation you can admire and visit the beautiful coves of Cala Rossa, Cala Azzurra and Bue Marino, depending on the winds.

There will be a stop on the island for a special Christmas lunch on land, with typical dishes of the local tradition.

Favignana offers a unique mix of crystal clear sea, nature, history and gastronomy: not to be missed are the former Tonnara Florio and the Palazzina Florio,

For adventure lovers, the climb to the Castle of Santa Caterina is ideal. The trail takes about 45 minutes to walk, but once at the top you will have a panoramic view of the entire archipelago.

The afternoon can continue through the streets of the village, the artisan shops and typical restaurants, or with an e-bike excursion to discover coves and bays.

Dinner can be on land or on the boat and the overnight stay will be on board in the port of Favignana.

Leg 3

Day 3: Levanzo - Trapani

After breakfast in the village, we set sail for Levanzo, the smallest and most romantic island of the Egadi Islands.

Wild, solitary, bathed by clear and crystalline waters, ancient and immersed in a dimension where time seems to have stopped.

There will be stops in the most famous coves, Cala Fridda and Cala Minnola, to enjoy lunch on board with a unique panorama.

This will be followed by a sail to Trapani to begin the return to the port, enjoying a wonderful pink winter sunset!

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.
