This experience, in a nutshell

We are Annalisa and Emanuel, a couple of skippers who spend six months a year in the Dodecanese, an archipelago of over 163 islands and islets where the beauty of unspoiled nature blends with the richness of Greek culture. Our itineraries are called "Secret Dodecanese" because they are born from the love for these islands and the desire to share their most beautiful and hidden treasures with our guests.

The South

Dodecanese offers its visitors both magnificent deserted bays, where nature dominates unchallenged, and beautiful medieval villages or colorful neoclassical architecture. The itinerary is a nice mix of activities because it includessailing, sea life, hiking and visits to natural and man-made treasures. We will abandon ourselves to the slow life of these islands where you can already breathe the air of the East. We will sail both driven by the upwind and upwind and across, therefore, it will be a very varied experience for sailing lovers. The sea and air temperature is slightly higher than in the north and the winds are gentler.

Life on board

Barca is synonymous with freedom, so ours are always offered and everyone is free to choose how to spend their time. On board you can participate in the management of the boat, sunbathe, read, chat. There are fins and masks for snorkeling and a dinghy with outboard to reach the beaches or to go ashore and explore the islands. We take care of the preparation of meals on the boat, because in addition to our passion for the sea and sailing, we also like to cook. If anyone shares this passion, they are welcome in the kitchen! Fixing up, on the other hand, is a team game, everyone does their part. Sometimes we will have dinner on land in typical taverns where we can taste the cuisine of the Dodecanese, a treasure trove of Mediterranean flavors with Middle Eastern influences from neighboring Turkey.

With

the

sky always clear and the wind that fills the sails, we will discover the islands of our itinerary. The wind and the sea will show us the best path to follow. With 25-30 knots of wind in the tails or downwind, sailing is a pleasure; If upwind, sailing can become challenging, therefore, itineraries are always at the discretion of the skippers who are responsible for the well-being and safety of the crew. And, by the way, often the best things happen when they are not planned.

Leg 1

Saturday: Alymia

Departure from the city of Rhodes and coastal navigation to Alymia, a small almost deserted island, with vestiges of an ancient monastery that can be visited and barracks of the Italian soldiers stationed during the occupation period. Bays and beautiful seabeds to explore and swim in peace. Night at anchor under the stars.

Saturday: Alymia

Leg 2

Domenica: Chalki

The smallest inhabited island in the Dodecanese, not far from Rhodes. It calls itself the island of serenity, and rightly so. We will moor in the village, a picturesque port of Venetian origins, dominated by the Byzantine tower against an imposing backdrop of reddish mountains. Here the colorful neoclassical houses overlook the turquoise sea with a thousand iridescent glows, even at night. In the evening nice walk along the seafront and dinner at the restaurant.

Domenica: Chalki

Leg 3

Lunedì: Tylos Sud

A natural oasis and geological park, it is the world's first zero-waste island and a paradise of deserted bays and crystal-clear seabeds. We will spend our third day here, completely immersed in nature and away from it all. We will sleep at anchor under the stars, lulled by the waves or in the small port of Livadia with dinner at the restaurant.

Lunedì: Tylos Sud

Leg 4

Martedì: Symi Ovest

Morning sail to reach the bays of West Symi and the small monastery on the water. After long swims and a lunch in the delicious tavern overlooking the bay, we will move to another bay where we will spend the night at anchor or in Symi Town in the port of the village.

Martedì: Symi Ovest

Leg 5

Mercoledì: Symi Est

Visit Symi Town, a nativity scene town that develops around the harbor overlooked by elegant pastel-colored neoclassical buildings and shops. Departure for the beautiful bays on the east side of Symi, separated from Turkey by a narrow strip of sea and characterized by high rock walls overlooking beautiful colors. Dinner on the boat and night at anchor or in the small port of Pedi.

Mercoledì: Symi Est

Leg 6

Thursday: Panormitis

Slow departure with swimming breaks for Trompetta, a very small island south of Symi. We will continue to the bay of Panormitis, an evocative place where it is possible to visit one of the most famous monasteries in Greece, a pilgrimage destination and witnessed by the numerous votive offerings.

Thursday: Panormitis

Leg 7

Friday: Rhodes Town

Early departure and late morning arrival in the city port of Rhodes. Here you can visit the medieval Old Town, famous for its impressive fortified walls, cobbled streets including the Street of the Knights, and medieval architecture. Not to be missed, a visit to the Palace of the Grand Masters, and the Archaeological Museum. The area has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Friday: Rhodes Town

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.

Secret Aegean with skipper and kitchen on board from Santorini to Kos

A week on a sailing boat between Santorini, Anafi, Astypalea, Nisyros and Kos – a real holiday, one of those that stay with you. Annalisa and Emmanuel, our skippers, were incredible: super prepared, but also welcoming and easy-going. They treated us like kings and queens from day one, with a care and kindness that is rarely found. Even when the wind gave us a longer stop on an island, they were able to turn everything into an opportunity to discover beautiful places, have new experiences and eat in authentic places where you spend little and really eat like a god. Even on board you can eat very well: they cook everything themselves, with fresh local products, and you can see that they put passion into it. They are not only good skippers, they are also excellent cooks! Every meal was delicious! We did everything: trekking, bathing in hot springs, visiting the caldera of a volcano, and often slept in quiet and isolated bays, under a sky full of stars. An incredible peace. We almost always sail making us participate in the maneuvers and explain everything to us with patience and passion. It's not your average all-inclusive holiday, it's a different, more authentic and free experience – and that's why it's special. It is real sea, nature, freedom, simplicity. If you are looking for something authentic, away from the chaos and full of beauty, I highly recommend it.

The skippers are experienced sailors who care about safety + weather conditions and maintain a very clean, comfortable boat down to the smallest details. They were kind enough to help me maneuver a heavy piece of luggage which I'm super grateful for. I booked solo and extremely last minute without knowing the right questions to ask, and I do recommend conversing prior to get a feel of fit for this type of trip. I could have benefited from discussing my dietary preferences and restrictions in comparison to the group, especially given that the food is purchased and prepared by the skippers without the option of purchasing/ cooking your own. It also didn't occur to me to inquire about allotted water consumption per passenger, and in our case a swift shower wasn't possible each day whether on board or in marina. If you decide to embark, know that you are in experienced hands who will carefully anticipate weather restrictions and modify as needed, and you definitely won't be shopping or cooking. Thank you!
