This experience, in a nutshell

The archipelago of the Pontine Islands emerges from the crystal clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea with six magnificent volcanic islands off the southern coast of Lazio: Ponza, Ventotene, Santo Stefano, Gavi, Zannone and Palmarola. Six names for six authentic paradises where you can escape from everyday life, immerse yourself in wild and unspoiled nature, practice water sports and enjoy an extraordinarily transparent sea.

The two main islands in terms of size and inhabitants are Ponza and Ventotene, while the others, smaller and almost uninhabited, are often nature reserves, as in the case of Zannone, and can be visited through boat excursions.

Ponza, the largest in terms of history and size, is considered one of the most beautiful islands in Italy. Here land and sea meet creating spectacular landscapes: from the sea caves with incredible colors, reachable only by sea, to the most crowded beaches such as the famous Frontone Beach, the Bay of Cala Feola and the remote inlet of the Parata. The town contributes to the unique identity of the island: colorful houses, narrow alleys, fishermen's houses, fashionable boutiques and suggestive bars carved into the rock make Ponza a lively and fascinating destination.

South-east of Ponza, about three hours by boat, is Ventotene, the other inhabited island of the archipelago. Smaller and more intimate, the island has a discreet and quiet atmosphere, ideal for those looking for a relaxing stay in contact with nature. Among its pedestrianized streets you can discover numerous historical sites, such as the luxurious Villa Giulia in Punta Eolo – an ancient imperial residence with rooms, gardens, cisterns and mosaics – and the Roman port, carved into the volcanic rock.

The third largest island, Palmarola is an almost completely uninhabited gem. Its wild and unspoiled beauty is made up of caves, stacks, small beaches and hidden bays, so much so that it deserves the status of a protected nature reserve. The only traces of human settlements are found in the houses dug by the wind in the rock caves of Cala del Porto, the only landing place on the island.

Our itinerary

We will depart from the port of Nettuno with a route to Palmarola, which we will reach after about 4 and a half hours. Upon arrival, we will evaluate the weather conditions to decide whether to moor on the west or east side of the island.

The following day we will explore the southern tip of Palmarola, with a swim among its most spectacular caves and crystal clear waters. Towards sunset we will set sail for Ponza, where you can choose whether to disembark and dine in the restaurants of the center or enjoy a dinner on the boat with the view of the city illuminated.

The next day will be dedicated to touring the island, including swimming, sun and a lunch on board. We will spend the night in Cala Feola to be able to experience Sunday among its natural pools: unforgettable swims and, for the more daring, dives from different heights. After lunch we will set sail for the return to Nettuno, with arrival scheduled between 5 and 7 pm.

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.
