From the north, the A12 allows direct access to the city; from the interior of Tuscany the SS1 connects the main coastal centers to the south towards Civitavecchia. On arrival, there are access to the port and rest areas near the city center and ferry terminals; travel times vary according to traffic, with an estimate from Rome of about 40-70 minutes.

Civitavecchia station is located on the Tyrrhenian line (Rome-Civitavecchia-Pisa) and serves regional and intercity trains; regional connections from Roma Termini or Roma Ostiense generally take around 50-70 minutes, with hourly frequency during peak hours; from Pisa or Grosseto the times increase varying between 2 and 3 hours depending on the service. The station is connected by bus and taxi to the port and the center; for connections with other regions there are Intercity trains and some long-distance services that stop in Civitavecchia.

The nearest airports are Rome-Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci), about 60 km away, and Rome-Ciampino, about 80 km away; from the Fiumicino terminal, the Leonardo Express reaches Roma Termini in about 32 minutes, from which it continues with the regional train to Civitavecchia; alternatively, the FL1 regional rail connection from Fiumicino leads to Rome Ostiense/Tiburtina with a change for trains to Civitavecchia. Road transfers from Fiumicino or Ciampino to Civitavecchia take approximately 40-80 minutes depending on the itinerary and traffic; Taxis, shuttles, and car rentals are available for direct transfer.

Double cabins are usually assigned to those traveling as a couple, while those booking individually share a cabin with another traveler of the same gender. Spots are assigned in order of booking, except in special cases.
