This experience, in a nutshell

SUMMER CAMP: SAILING ADVENTURES - Sailing, English and boat life on an 18 m schooner!

Activities Sailing course

The entire course will take place in English: the captain and crew are native English speakers and will speak, with the students and among themselves, exclusively in English.

During our sailing course along the coast of Monte Argentario, Talamone/Parco dell'Uccellina and Giglio Island, our young sailors, in a group of up to 10 boys, will be guided through an unforgettable marine experience.

The safety of the participants is our top priority , so the choice of the itinerary will be influenced by the weather conditions and will take into account the age of the children, always ensuring a safe and secure environment.

Every day, in addition to sailing and many dives and baths, we will dedicate 2 hours to theoretical lessons, addressing the fundamental principles of sailing, nomenclature, the specific maneuvers of our schooner, as well as learning the winds and gaits.

This will be followed by 2 hours of practical lessons, during which the children will learn how to weigh anchor, hoist the sails, tie nautical knots and maneuver the rudder. In optimal safety conditions, they will be encouraged to take an active role in the management of the boat, under the careful supervision of the captain and crew.

Activities in English

During the day, there will be three hours of activities in English with native teachers with Kids&Us training , specialized in teaching the language through play and direct experience. Thanks to an engaging and communicative approach, children will be immersed in the English language in a natural way, improving comprehension, pronunciation and fluency without even realizing it! The activities will be divided into games, storytelling, language challenges and interactive activities, also related to the world of sailing and the sea.

Here are some examples:

  • Nautical Word Hunt: The children will receive a list of words related to the boat and the sea (mast, sail, rudder, rope, anchor). They will have to find each item on board and use it in a correct sentence in English.
  • One Minute Talk: In turn, each boy will fish on a maritime topic (My dream boat, The scariest storm, A message in a bottle) and will have to talk about it for a minute without stopping, improving fluency and ability to express himself.
  • Radio Communication Challenge: Simulation of radio communication between two "boats": the children will have to transmit and receive messages in English without gestures, learning to express themselves clearly and understandably.
  • Alphabet Categories: Once they have chosen a category (sea animals, sailing equipment, weather), the children will have to say words in alphabetical order (A – Anchor, B – Buoy, C – Compass). If someone gets stuck, they're deleted!

... and many other games!!

The captain and crew made this weekend unforgettable with their professionalism, kindness, cheerfulness and humanity. It will remain an indelible memory in my memory and that of my son. Every expectation has gone. The Captain established an empathic relationship with us and guided us in a unique experience. The crew pampered and involved us. Absolutely recommended.

The boat all made of wood, its welcoming you, the activities to do together, at the helm, at the mainsail or in the galley, the guide and the calm and sympathy of Francesco and the presence of Melissa from the anchor to laughter together, the acrobatic all of the youngest, the stars on the deck, the rules to respect Nature, the comfort of the bed on deck, the setlist that challenged me but then retraced continuously, the blue of Giglio. In short, this schooner is a lot of stuff, but to remove the superfluous. Thank you!!!
