This experience, in a nutshell

Every year, starting in early November, both killer whales and humpback whales make their way to the waters around Skjervøy, and that’s when our Sails & Whales adventure begins. Seeing these majestic creatures up close is an experience worth the trip alone!

We’ll spend several days exploring the Skjervøy area, and this journey is open to everyone—not just seasoned sailors. Even if you have no sailing experience, you’ll feel right at home on board.

And if the stars align, we might even witness the magical Northern Lights! For an even better chance, we can rent a car and explore locations where the Aurora is more visible.

Throughout the trip, we’ll be staying on the Bruce Roberts New York 46, a yacht perfectly equipped for sailing in the Arctic. It’s built to handle the chilly northern waters, ensuring both safety and comfort

Leg 1

Day 1, Tromso

Arrival, provisions, transfer to the yacht - depending on our needs, the yacht may be waiting for us in Tromso or in one of the ports closer to ski touring places - there will be a car on site - we can use it!

Leg 2

Day 2. Tromso-Vannvag 3-8h

Around 40MN. Sail to Vannvawg or Arnoya Island for a short trek!

Leg 3

Day 3-4, Spildra area,

Sail: 3 hours and trekking 1-4h

Definitely less sailing, Dunvik and lots of interesting anchorages - we're in no rush! We will cross course several times with an area where whales can be found! We will enter the bay from where it is easy to reach the glacier, the nights we can spet in one of the small harbours.

Day 4-6, Skjervoy,

Sail 1h, Whales

It is to this area that killer whales and whales comes for late Autumn.

Day 6- 7 Arnøya/Havnnes/Djupvik

Sail 6hours.

Short stop & a lot of possible attractions:

night trekking on Arnoya islandSauna inHamnes or DjupvikSightseeing of Havnnes trading post.

Day 7- 8, Tromso,

Disembark sail: 8 to 12 h

After the cruise, if the weather would be favorable we can rent a car and hunting for the magic of lights!
