Brief description of the holiday
If you are a shipowner or sailor, I suggest an unforgettable sailing expedition to Cape Horn.
Cape Horn, considered the Everest of sailors, has always had a special attraction for restless and adventurous spirits.
Once in Puerto Williams, from the Yacht Club Micalvi - the world's southernmost sailing club - we will sail to Puerto Toro, the southernmost community in the world. From there, depending on ideal climatic conditions, we will sail towards the Wollaston Islands to deepen the Martial or Maxwell cove and then sail up to the mythical Cape Horn.
The expedition has educational and sports purposes.
Ovno 395 Alubat
Cutter Ovni 395-42 of 12.77m., Category CE 'A' (Unlimided Ocean Voyages), designed by Philippe Briand, built by the Alubat shipyard.
The robust aluminum alloy hull (5083 - H111), the drift and the mobile rudder blade make it a light, comfortable, particularly robust and safe sailing ship. During the construction phase, the interior fittings were modified, a further diesel tank was welded (one third in 2011, well protected to keep the oil at the internal temperature of the boat), a sails were obtained with access from the bridge, added winches and increased the standards , added a third headstay (mobile) to use turpentine of 5 square meters, mounted steps to the mast, replaced the fixed triple with a MaxProp (kept the triple for navigation in the ice), set up a sturdy canopy, appropriate a bowsprit, mounted a wind generator and two solar panels, added a black water tank, thermally insulated the hull, mounted a watermaker and anything else to improve the quality of life on board and safety in navigation. In essence, this Ovni is designed, equipped and suitable to navigate in remote areas and cars sufficient for long periods. The sailing ship was suitable to be conducted in solitary: the sail plan cutter (yankee stretchers and staysail, full batten mainsail with rapid reduction from the cockpit) is balanced and well manageable from the cockpit. The mobile drift allows access where other ships can not get: it is possible to repair in rivers, lagoons, shallow waters or dry or voluntarily beach.
With this sailboat, cedutomi in use without limits, I have since 2007 many Capo Horn and navigations through the Drake Channel to and from the Antarctica.
Equipment: 24M Radar. with ChartPlotter, Ray 6001 Plus pilot, Honda 2KW generator, Epirb with GPS, 3 anchors, Iridium satellite, Refleks diesel stove, Spectra watermaker, Lomac 340 inflatable boat, 2 Yamaha outboards.

Other important information
It is not necessary to be a skilled sailor to participate. The skipper will carefully support every embarked member who will participate in the shipment as a VFM Club crew member.
Each participant will be assisted and will be an opportunity to learn navigation in remote areas and poorly mapped, understand how to manage anchors on "difficult" funds, plan navigation in areas with tidal currents, identify safe areas through geomorphology, maneuver solo.
The crew members must be in good health and general mobility in order to be able to take part in a navigation on the boat. The contractual conditions, specifications, what to bring etc. etc. will be sent by e-mail when the potential participant asks for information on the shipment.
