This experience, in a nutshell

Lampedusa, Linosa and the Maltese archipelago are islands that we have known for many years and have been sailing since 2004. We appreciate the exciting variety of land and sea landscapes, the spirit and modus vivendi of the inhabitants. The week on a sailing boat is an opportunity for us to share the experience of staying on these islands in the heart of the Mediterranean, halfway between Europe and Africa, respecting the rhythms of nature and slowing down those of everyday life.

The one-way cruise with embarkation in Lampedusa and disembarkation in Gozo (Malta) is also an opportunity to experience an offshore navigation of 70 miles (from Linosa to Gozo it is about 13 hours), which gives you the thrill of seeing only sea and sky around you, to deepen technical aspects such as the use of instrumentation, the adjustment of sails, the analysis of the weather conditions and if we will be lucky enough to spot dolphins and loggerhead turtles.

In Lampedusa we will drop anchor in the cove where the water has Caribbean hues and transparencies, such as the Tabaccara. On the north side we will stop under imposing cliffs and blue seabeds. Swimming with the mask, we will easily see stingrays, groupers, owlfish, parrots, moray eels, octopuses and many other varieties of fish. We'll also see the Queen's falcons nesting on the cliffs. Even in the middle of the tourist season, we will have the opportunity to spend the sunset and the starry nights in semi-deserted bays.

Aperitifs in crowded places with deafening music and sunset views from souvenir photos are not for us. In Lampedusa we offer an aperitif - included in the fee - at Porto M, which works on the recovery of Sicilian musical and cultural traditions (including the puppet theater) and through a small museum space offers a reflection on the themes of migration.

With 5 hours of navigation we will be in Linosa, a small and wild volcanic island, where with a simple walk we will reach on foot the craters (extinct for 600,000 years) from which to admire the island from above, the green and black cliffs and the blue sea that surrounds you. With the mask we will admire basaltic seabeds, arches and caves. It is also possible – with local boats – to witness a unique spectacle at sunset, the return of thousands of shearwaters to their nests. One evening we will have dinner at the I Germogli association, which supports some health and educational projects in Uganda. The proceeds of the dinner, included in the fee, will go to support the projects.

Depending on the weather and wind, we will decide on night or day sailing that will take us to Gozo, Malta's second island. Here we will drop anchor in front of golden beaches, skirt towering cliffs, discover incredible shelters and inland salt lakes, while in Comino we will swim in the turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon.

We prefer Gozo and Comino to Malta, whose coasts are too man-made for our tastes. Valletta, on the other hand, deserves to be visited before leaving.

On board we cook with fresh fish and local products.

Lampedusa seen from the perspective of the sea gives deep emotions, Emanuela knows where to take you to amaze your heart with the beauty of the island, its sunsets, and its people, those who live on land and those who come from afar. Added value the sweetness and competence of Viveka (Emanuela's help during our holiday). Grateful for this experience.

I write this review telling the objective strengths. Everything else is based on personal perceptions and personal characters with affinities and idiosyncrasies. Let's start with practical things: Transfer to and from the airport included (zero slamming) Food already made and kitchen by the skipper (and what meals!!!) Emanuela has a strong focus on social issues and therefore a rescue dose of empathy and reinforcement is guaranteed on issues that we tend to neglect when we are on that famous hamster wheel (in everyday life) Emanuela knows where to go based on the weather in order to guarantee a nice sailing experience (which to say "there is bad weather, you don't go out" I know good, so much so the guests who understand it) So, if you put good character and good karma into it, good vibes are guaranteed

We spent the week with Emanuela and Vivica. It was a wonderful experience, exactly corresponding to my expectations of a relaxing, non-touristy holiday, in full and true contact with nature. The dinner with his friends Cesare and Margaret who have lived and volunteered for years in Uganda was very interesting, and the aperitif in the cultural center. With me I will bring Emanuela's love that shines through for the people and traditions of the place
