We will be at the beautiful Pontine Islands. The archipelago consists of 6 islands: Ponza, Palmarola, Gavi, Zannone, Ventotene and Santo Stefano.
Island of Ponza. Many of the people who have visited Ponza by land, arriving by ferry or hydrofoil from the ports of Anzio, Terracina or Formia, think that it is an island suitable only for weekends. In fact, Ponza is relatively small and there are only 3 beaches that can be reached by land: Frontone, Cala Feola and Cala dell'Acqua.
Most of the coves can only be reached by sea and for this reason the sailboat is the best way to visit them. By boat you can discover all the bays of the island and above all enjoy them in the most beautiful moments, early in the morning and at sunset, when the day boaters will have returned to port.
Palmarola can be reached in about an hour by boat from Ponza. It is an uninhabited island where there are very few buildings and all of them are seasonal. Rich in walls overlooking the sea, it seems to be in Thailand instead of on an island in the middle of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is an uninhabited island, without port or lighthouses, and has several bays in which to make stops: Cala dei gabbiani, Cala Spermaturo, Cala Brigantina, I faraglioni, Cala del Porto (also called "del French" from the name of the founder of the homonymous typical restaurant present for several decades right on the beach) and the so-called roadstead of the "cathedral", typical for its very steep rocks and its particular shape, which make it similar to a Gothic cathedral. There are many caves, passages, and seabeds to visit with snorkeling, and the night stops are extremely fascinating, as the island has no lighting: in the absence of a moon and with clear skies, you will notice a spectacular starry sky.
Ventotene is located about 20 miles southeast of Ponza and therefore requires 3-4 hours of navigation to arrive.
What we love most about Ventotene is the atmosphere in its alleys, stopping to talk to the people who live on this island that is still far from mass tourism. We like to stroll through its streets, sit down to drink a mojito in the bars dug into the tuff in front of the boats moored at the Roman port and dine in one of the many restaurants where there is still excellent value for money.
At night we will sleep in the roadstead, among the beautiful coves that nature offers, and then cool off with a dip in the morning. You will be accommodated in double cabins with bathrooms. Everyone collaborates in life on board.
Sailing in these places is very quiet and you choose to avoid unfavorable conditions by staying protected between the islands; It is ideal for everyone, sportsmen, lovers of marine and land excursions. Movement on land is ensured by a dinghy.
