Give this experience a try!

This experience, in a nutshell

We are Annalisa and Emanuel, a couple of skippers who spend six months a year in the Dodecanese, an archipelago of over 163 islands and islets where the beauty of unspoiled nature blends with the richness of Greek culture. Our itineraries are called "Secret Dodecanese" because they are born from the love for these islands and the desire to share their most beautiful and hidden treasures with our guests.

The South

Dodecanese offers its visitors both magnificent deserted bays, where nature dominates unchallenged, and beautiful medieval villages or colorful neoclassical architecture. The itinerary is a nice mix of activities because it includessailing, sea life, hiking and visits to natural and man-made treasures. We will abandon ourselves to the slow life of these islands where you can already breathe the air of the East. We will sail both driven by the upwind and upwind and across, therefore, it will be a very varied experience for sailing lovers. The sea and air temperature is slightly higher than in the north and the winds are gentler.

Life on board

Barca is synonymous with freedom, so ours are always offered and everyone is free to choose how to spend their time. On board you can participate in the management of the boat, sunbathe, read, chat. There are fins and masks for snorkeling and a dinghy with outboard to reach the beaches or to go ashore and explore the islands. We take care of the preparation of meals on the boat, because in addition to our passion for the sea and sailing, we also like to cook. If anyone shares this passion, they are welcome in the kitchen! Fixing up, on the other hand, is a team game, everyone does their part. Sometimes we will have dinner on land in typical taverns where we can taste the cuisine of the Dodecanese, a treasure trove of Mediterranean flavors with Middle Eastern influences from neighboring Turkey.

Itinerary

With the sky always clear and the wind that fills the sails, we will discover the islands of our itinerary. The wind and the sea will show us the best path to follow. With 25-30 knots of wind in the tails or downwind, sailing is a pleasure; If upwind, sailing can become challenging, therefore, itineraries are always at the discretion of the skippers who are responsible for the well-being and safety of the crew. And, by the way, often the best things happen when they are not planned.

Leg 1

Saturday: Volcanic Islands

Departure from Kardamena, island of Kos. Stop in Yali, the white pumice island where we'll stop for a swim in the crystal clear waters. Then head to the island of Nisyros, where we will stop for a swim in front of the black volcanic sand beach. The final stop is the Island of Tylos, a natural oasis and geological park, as well as the first zero-waste island in the world. We'll drop anchor near the pebble beach of Livadia, the largest on the island.

Saturday: Volcanic Islands

Leg 2

Sunday: South Tylos

A paradise of deserted bays and crystal clear seabeds where we will spend our second day, completely immersed in nature and away from everything. We will sleep at anchor under the stars, lulled by the waves.

Sunday: South Tylos

Leg 3

Lunedì: Symi Ovest

Morning sail to reach the small monastery on the water for swimming and lunch on the boat or in a tavern that combines excellent food with a view of the beautiful bay. Dinner and night at anchor.

Lunedì: Symi Ovest

Leg 4

Martedì: Symi Est

Separated from Turkey by a narrow stretch of sea, it offers some of the most beautiful bays of the Dodecanese where we will stop for swimming and lunch. In the late afternoon we will head to Symi Town, the most important town on the island that develops around the port overlooked by elegant pastel-colored buildings in neoclassical style, shops, and many clubs where you can spend a pleasant evening. Night in the Marina in one of the two ports of the city and dinner at the restaurant.

Martedì: Symi Est

Leg 5

Mercoledì: Chalki

Morning departure for Chalki, the smallest inhabited island of the Dodecanese, not far from Rhodes, with a stop in the tiny Trompetta along the route to swimming. We will continue to the village, a picturesque port of Venetian origins, dominated by the Byzantine tower against an imposing backdrop of reddish mountains. Here the colorful neoclassical houses overlook the turquoise sea with a thousand iridescent glows, even at night. We will dock at the quay and take a nice walk along the promenade with dinner at the restaurant.

Mercoledì: Chalki

Leg 6

Thursday: Chalki and Alymia

Breakfast in the village and then beach life, by boat or on foot. In the afternoon, sail to Alymia, an almost uninhabited island where it will be possible to visit the monastery, the church and the ruins of the barracks of the Italian military, but above all to swim and snorkel in peace. Night at anchor.

Thursday: Chalki and Alymia

Leg 7

Friday: Rhodes Town

Departure at dawn and head to Rhodes where you can visit the medieval Old Town, famous for its impressive fortified walls, cobbled streets including the Street of the Knights, and medieval architecture. Not to be missed, a visit to the Palace of the Grand Masters, and the Archaeological Museum. The area has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

LAST MINUTE! - The secrets of the small Dodecanese islands between history and culture

10/8/2023

Christoph R.

Ottima vacanza! Sonia Amelotti

The secrets of the small islands of the Dodecanese between nature and relaxation

Daniela S.

We spent a full week with Emanuel and Annalisa and those days will truly remain in our hearts forever. It was our first sailboat trip and, seriously, it will be tough to experience anything better than that. Mivida is a beautiful boat, well kept and super clean (before welcoming new passengers they sanitize each room and common area!). We were/are not knowledgeable about sailboats, so what made the difference for us was the “human factor”. E&A’s picture really reflects their personalities: they’re kind, always smiling, super fun, flexible - trust me, our group launched some culinary challenges - great cooks (still dreaming about the delicious food we tried there), are always keen to teach you how to sail and let you practice. If you are interested in local curiosities, just ask them, they know everything and will not refrain from sharing the most interesting details with you! Wrapping up - beautiful bays+blue crystal water+dreamy sunsets+delicious food+ awesome squad = Best holiday!
