This experience, in a nutshell

NB: Contact me if you would like to receive more details by clicking on the red button "contact the organizer".

The price quoted is for the shared or saloon double cabin. Possibility to privatize a double cabin with an extra charge: contact me or Sailsquare Customer Care to receive a quote!

Between each stopover, you will operate the Pogo 12.50 under the advice of your state-certified instructor who will guide you in your movements in order to acquire autonomy on each position.

You will improve your navigation techniques on a nautical chart with bearing compass, Cras ruler and drypoint compass, but also by using the on-board navigation software.

If the weather permits, you will leave for a crossing to Corsica lasting a total of about twenty hours. We will have to organize the night watches to keep an eye on the road while being assisted by the AIS aboard our Pogo. For your watch, with a bit of luck you will come across playful dolphins and, who knows, a whale, more precisely one of the fin whales present in the northern third of Corsica.

Our itinerary

Typical program of a 7-day course:
(provided for information purposes only and may be subject to change depending on weather conditions and on the skipper's decision)

Departing from Bormes-les-Mimosas, you will first familiarize yourself with the sailboat and its basic settings and then head for the island of Embiez, an internationally renowned site for boaters and divers! After a night at anchor, you will sail to Bandol, then La Ciotat, and drop anchor near the Calanques de Cassis : Port Miou, Port Pin, and the most beautiful the Calanque d'En Vau. Located in the westernmost way, it is a long corridor with translucent waters bordered by high cliffs where a few pine trees cling. In the background, a pebble beach and curious stone chimneys sculpted by erosion form a grandiose setting.

The night spent at anchor you will then head for Marseille, more precisely on the Frioul archipelago composed of four islands theater of exceptional fauna and flora, ideal destination for lovers of nature, history, unusual walks and snorkeling.

Instead, we will drop our anchor in the cove of Morgiret which opens to the west of Ratonneau, between the Pointe du Soldat and the islet of Eyglaudes. Surrounded by steep and high rocks, this very wild haven offers excellent protection from the east wind. There is a slipway for disembarking by dinghy at the bottom of the cove and easy access to the Lazaret marina.

Riou Island is the largest and highest of the islands that overflow the coast of the Calanques. The stone needles at its summit reach nearly 200 meters. The Calanque de Monasterio is one of the few places to stop there.

The navigation will then head east again with a possible stop in the Calanque de Figuerolles which looks like a smugglers' den and located at the foot of the vertiginous Bec de l'Aigle, then head for the magnificent islands of Hyères: Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant, also called the Golden Islands.

Continuing the navigation further east, you will reach the pretty port of Saint-Tropez, Cannes and the Lérins Islands.

Facing the bay of Cannes and the Estérel massif, the Lérins Islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, an archipelago of legends.

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.

Sailing course in POGO 12.50 - Sailing on the Atlantic

This week of sailing went very well: pleasant boat, friendly group, competent skipper and teacher. However, I would like to note 3 points: - 1) At the beginning of the stay, there was no safety briefing, - 2) There was no presentation or preparation of the stages, either the night before or the morning before the start (study of the route according to the wind) - 3) Most of the crew members (3 out of 5) had a good level of knowledge and even autonomy. In this context, I would have liked our skipper to give us a little more possibility of decision, therefore responsibility, rather than dictating to us what to do (when more often than not, we were about to achieve what he asked us to do). These 3 points mentioned do not in any way call into question the competence of the skipper or his relational qualities with the crew.

Fantastic experience in Biscay, Atlantic French coast, the boat Pogo 1250 is very performant, we had wind from moderate to fresh with waves and smooth sea, the skipper Nicolas is very skilled and very kind in teaching. I suggest to everyone this stage, Antoine and his company are very good!
