This experience, in a nutshell

Tour of West Corsica:

from the white beach of Saleccia to the red rocks of Scandola and the gullies of Piana

We are a couple in their sixties who love the sea, sailing, snorkeling and some light walking. This summer we want to share our Tour of West Corsica with a few good people, to discover the wildest and most authentic places on the island, away from the crowds and noise. No discos, only nature, silence and sailing.

We sail along the most unspoilt coast of Corsica, where many bays are only accessible from the sea. We will find white beaches, red rocks, spectacular cliffs overlooking the water. Every two days we stop in the port, where maybe we get a dinner in a small restaurant with a view.

The cruise is in July, a period in which the wind is usually gentler than in August. But if the mistral arrives, don't panic: you take refuge in the roadstead or in the port and wait, calmly.

It departs from Bastia and arrives in Ajaccio, the two best-connected ports in Corsica, with frequent ferries to Italy.

And let's face it: making the return trip in a few hours by ferry is much more comfortable (and faster) than making the crossing by sail... But don't tell the purists!

We have only 4 seats on board, in two berths aft. We are not looking for customers, but people with whom to share this experience of sea and freedom.

Our itinerary

Our trip starts here:

Bastia.

Check-in: 2:00 PM

Our trip ends here:

Ajaccio.

Check-out: 9:00 AM

Leg 1

Boarding in Bastia

The meeting point is in the enchanting setting of the Vieux Port of Bastia, easily reachable on foot from the ferry dock. Meeting in the early afternoon, we take the galley and stop in one of the famous restaurants of typical cuisine or set sail north for the night in the roadstead.

Leg 2

Cap Corse, Giraglia, Centuri

Breakfast and here we are in the beautiful roadsteads between Macinaggio and Cap Corse, with cows on the beaches and colored stones on the shoreline. We pass under the rock of Cap Corse facing the island of Giraglia, symbol of all sailors: shall we sail around it? Towards evening we go ashore in Centuri, a fishing village that seems to come out of a postcard.

Leg 3

Centuri / Saint Florant

Heading south with a swim stop in the still wild Ansa di Alisu and at the Marina di Giottani, bordering a green and wooded coast that seems uninhabited. Here we are in Saint Florent, where if we find a place we can moor in the port or anchor in front of it in the Bay of Fornali. A lively and pleasant village, with crowded alleys and restaurants everywhere, an almost obligatory stop on the north coast of Corsica.

Leg 4

White beach in Saleccia

Day dedicated to the beaches: the landscapes are unforgettable, in fact we sail in front of the Desert des Agriates and stop in the various bays, snorkel in Lodo and also anchor at the much-photographed white beach of Saleccia. The night is spent in the roadstead, perhaps in Acciolu where we can still spend the night in turquoise waters in front of a small beach with fine sand.

Leg 5

Bald

Swim early in the morning and then sail to Calvi where we moor at the buoy field outside the port or at anchor at Punta di Oscelluccia alla Revellata. With the tender we can access the beach where a path takes us to Punta Oselluccia where we can take photos and selfies. In the evening Calvi will appear illuminated with its majestic citadel.

Leg 6

Scandola Nature Reserve

A day in the wildest Corsica, that of the red rocks overlooking the blue sea of the Scandola Nature Reserve, a beautiful contrast of colors with the sails of our boat! Night at anchor in the Gulf of Girolata.

Leg 7

Calanques de Piana

We sail under the Calanques de Piana, red granite rock formations of volcanic origin jagged and eroded by the mistral wind, elected a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Looking at them it seems to recognize the shapes of animals and faces, silhouettes that our imagination interprets differently each time.

Leg 8

The torri genovesi

Bellissima esperienza.
