A relaxing holiday on a sporty and comfortable sailing boat (in compliance with the sailing and safety regulations of the charter) in Istria reaching the Brijuni Islands.
Program: Boarding on Monday morning between 9.00 and 12.00 in Monfalcone where a welcome drink will await you: a moment to get to know us all, but above all to get to know the boat, followed by a briefing with the skipper before going, all together, to make the weekly galley (food and drink shopping). Around 15.00 we would be ready to maneuver to leave the berth heading for the pretty Piran. There we will still go to the bay to spend the night and for those who wish, visit the town of Piran.
Upon awakening we will have breakfast on the boat together surrounded by an exceptional spectacle of nature; a nice swim in the crystal clear waters and off to the southern part of Novigrad passing through Umag for the documentary regularization of entry into the country. On the second day we will stop in Dalia, a splendid bay where unforgettable dives and swims await us. In the afternoon we will continue sailing along the Istrian coast until we reach Novigrad, a place rich in cultural and historical heritage. Among its charming streets, you can find the country villas of antiquity, the historic walls that still surround some parts of the city and numerous churches and palaces to embellish the squares. The evening arrives without even realizing it, we can then decide whether to eat something typical in Novigrad or opt for a dinner on board our boat.
Wednesday is the day dedicated to the various islands of the Istrian archipelago, located between Porec and Vrsar. Our goal, by evening, is to get to Rovinj, but we cannot miss the beautiful Red Island first which, in addition to being the largest island, is also the most beautiful thanks to the nature that is here to be explored with a walk together. In the evening we are in Rovinj, declared the coolest town on the coast. Among steep stairways, suggestive streets, ancient white stone houses and Romanesque cathedrals it will seem to us to be in an unusual context, which recalls Venetian architecture. Let's enjoy a beautiful sunset and decide where to spend the evening in the most pleasant way there is!
Early Thursday morning a tasty breakfast and immediately in the direction of the Brijuni Islands National Park, consisting of 14 islands near Pula. According to a legend, the angels have grouped the remains of the garden of Eden that the devil had scattered, to shelter them from the waves. But there are not only legends, these places have been the favorite destination of Yugoslav President Tito and have been visited by the greatest heads of state, Hollywood stars and characters from the world jet set. Will there be a reason why they are so popular? The answer is in its uncontaminated nature with deer, fallow deer, mouflons that live in peace that we can discover with a safari on a train or by bicycle. If we are not tired yet we can visit other attractions such as the temple of Venus, the church of Santa Maria, the villa of Thomas Mann and that of James Joyce, the Byzantine fortress and the residence of Titus. Returning on board in the evening we can enjoy a little relaxation caressed by the gentle sea breeze.
Arriving on Friday, unfortunately the day of the beginning of our return, it is time to head north towards the suggestive fjord of Lemme: a unique and spectacular game of nature from every point of view. The water in the bay is slightly brackish due to the underwater sources of fresh water and is suitable for the development of plants and animal life such as oysters, mussels, sea bream and sea bass. We can stop here for lunch and then leave for Porec, lying on a small peninsula. We cannot miss this town, with many narrow streets full of clubs, which lead to the center where the Venetian influence is really very evident. Highly recommended is a visit to the Euphrasian basilica, a UNESCO heritage site, one of the best preserved and important examples of Byzantine art.
Saturday morning en route to Italy passing through Slovenia stopping for a swim and to complete the exit documentation from the Croatian waters, reaching Sistiana (Triestina coast), a peaceful place that offers a spectacular panorama of the Adriatic Sea. Surrounded by luxuriant vegetation, it presents a varied karst landscape where Mediterranean scrub, rocky and limestone masses and extremely beautiful harbors intertwine. Sistiana boasts a quiet and protected bay, a popular holiday resort in the Austro-Hungarian period. Today, you can find a marina, bathing establishments and well-kept and clean beaches. There are also many restaurants where you can taste the excellent local fish.
Just on the last day of the exciting holiday, after breakfast, a decided route to return to where you have time for a last swim before disembarking.
