This experience, in a nutshell

After a relaxing night in Poros we will head into the south of the Agean sea and the Saronic Gulf islands.

Today’s stop will be on the historically important island of Idhra (Hydra).
Hydra is a historically wealthy island and this is continued into modern times with it being known as a weekend getaway for Athenians and something of an artist’s haven with many local art galleries showing exhibitions of well known and upcoming artists. Leonard Cohen, spiritual music home of suicides and depressants the world over maintained a home on Idhra for many years. Hallelujah!

Hydra is also known for its architecture and the main town is filled with beautiful houses.
Hydra is also well known as an island with no cars or motorbikes, so enjoy the peace and quiet while you are there!

As the town harbour is very small we usually opt to anchor in Mandraki Bay which is a mile or so north of the town. There are water taxis available to take guests into town (e20 each way) or there is a nice walk across the hills for those who prefer to mix relaxing with a spot of brisk exercise.

WENSDAY – Idhra to Spetsai
After all the culture and exercise during our night in Idhra we will take a leisurely sail continuing our journey south to the equally historically significant island of Spetsai.
Along with Hydra and Poros, Spetses played a defining role in the Greek war of independence in the early 1800’s. Spetses was the home of famous Greek heroine Laskarina Bouboulinas and her house has now been converted into a museum documenting her life and contribution to the independence struggle. Spetsai is beautiful. The island has been very carefully maintained with freshly painted houses and shops adorning the long and winding sea front road. We will spent the night either moored in the creek to the north of the Island or in the bay south of the town.

For the adventure lovers there is a very good water sports centre in one of the bays to the north of the island. Here you can waterski, jetski, paddleboard or even try your hand at fly boarding.

THURSDAY – Spetsai to Ermioni
Opposite Hydra is the small tourist town of Ermioni. The town is popular for its pleasant beaches and a number of historical buildings including the Church of Taxiarchon. To the east is the ruins of the ancient port of Ermioni in a nice setting right on top of the sea.

We have a couple of choices for being along side the Town Quay in Ermioni, either in the bay or alongside the Quay on the sea side which offers good shelter from the northerly winds.
There are a number of local Taverna to choose from for dinner ashore. FRIDAY – Ermioni to Russian Bay
Russian Bay is a small bay just to the west of Poros. It is named after the Russian Naval base that used to be here and still has a (slightl more modern ancient ruin to mark its place in History.)

Russian Bay is one of our favourite places to visit on this trip. We will anchor in the bay and after swimming and relaxing we will take the dingy ashore for dinner in the Taverna on the beach. Russian Bay also has its very own Wedding Chapel on a small island just at the edge of the bay.

SATURDAY – Russian Bay to Perdika
Perdika is another small town on the Island of Aegain. The bay has a very small Town Quay so we will either tie up here or anchor in the bay. There is a good selection of local Tavernas and some great bars for a final evening celebration before the run home to Athens in the morning.

SUNDAY – Perdika to Athens
The final day of sailing as we make our way back to the marina in Athens.

We will arrive in the early afternoon to give guests time to disembark at the end of the trip.

At the end of the season, I was once again able to enjoy a fantastic sailing trip with Phil, Petra and Marina. 6 days trough the Saronic Islands in perfect weather conditions. Phil is much more than a professional skipper. His passion and fun for sailing, his competence and seriousness are noticeable every moment. We also had al lot of fun. Phil is always in a good mood and has entertained us - the atmosphere on board was great. Anyone who wanted to take tasks could do so at any time. While sailing, I learned a lot from Phil, he also enjoys teaching us his experience. His boat is in great condition and well equipped. You feel comfortable there immediately. Phil, thanks for the wonderful week on board with you, I will never forgot. TOP marks for the Skipper (as long as he does not sing loudly ;-) I hope we can sail together again. Fair winds! and all the best for you during the winter ;-) Andreas

It was a such wonderful sail trip around Greek islands. Phil, our fabulous captain is really kindness with its guests and especially about our feelings and how we are feeling great. It was a perfect mixture between sailing and discover the islands by having dinner in different restaurants and walking in the different town. Boat is really comfortable and Phil learned us many things about sailing, ropes, wind, forecast, map, sailing instruments I was already sharing this passion but this trip with Phil confirmed my passion for sailing. I will be back on the LoFII next season. Thank you for all. Marine

The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind... If you know nothing about sailing but want to enjoy a fantastic "Le Grand Bleu" experience in the mediterranean then you have to head for Phil and his Beneteau-Clipper. Our boarding was in Lavrio Olympic Marina (close to Athens) and after a safety briefing we headed for our island hopping tour with our final destination in Milos Island. First great surprise: the Nespresso Coffee machine with Cappuccino-Milkshaker, YESsss! Phil is very keen on getting things done properly but once he's seen how you get along he will happily hand over to you and name you "skipper of the day". If you would like to do so. If not you can also grab the "Do Nothing-Option" and chill around all day long. Phil is also great in cracking jokes and telling stories. The perfect balance between relaxation and learning how to sail. We definitely recommend Phil, the London-sounding Aussie. Anne & Giacomo

We had an amazing week sailing whit Phil, as soon as we got on the boat he's been kind and accomodating with us, we didnt't know anything about sailing but he trasmitted us all his love for this exciting world. We've been lucky with the forecast and we got the chance to do evrything planned. By the end of the week we were able to do a few things to help him, thanks to his patience and constancy, and traveling around those amazing places has been even more delightful if possible. Our holiday was absolutely wonderful from the first day to the last one, we couldn't have asked for more. Phil is not only a super professional skipper, reliable and competent, but also a very special men, easy going ,kind and always ready to help. We would surely go back sailing with him.
