An ideal stop for those who want to gain some semi-high seas navigation experience, with night navigation .
On Saturday 10 June, once the new crew has embarked in Portimaõ, we will set sail for Burriana, Spain. A stage that at first sight seems calm and with just a few miles, but which in reality can prove to be demanding. We will be able to notice it soon; as we get closer to the Pillars of Hercules the traffic will increase and it will be very important to be vigilant to ships and fishermen.
If the weather permits, we will stop in Gibraltar.
In the following days we will continue along the coast and from time to time, alternating with night navigations, we will stop in some port to rest until we reach Burriana.
LEG 3 – PORTIMAO (PORTUGAL) – BURRIANA (SPAIN) / 600NM / 9-10 days
Since this is a trip in stages, from about May 28 to June 6 I will not be able to answer as I will be in the ocean for the second stage, but I will be happy to answer any doubts or questions before and after this period. In the meantime, contact Sailsquare Customer Care for any doubts or questions!
Check out the crew!

REFIT 2017
The boat is an Ocean 62 from the historic British shipyard Southern Ocean. A very elegant, comfortable and spacious boat, fully equipped to sail around the world. With two total refits, in 2002 and 2017, it has been completely renovated both inside and outside, equipping it with new safety systems, new rigging, ropes and new sails; in 2006 numerous modern electronic instruments were added. Today it has two electric furlers, an electric winch, new bimini and sprayhood, new cockpit cushions and a new 350 tender with two engines for short trips and water skiing. Double radar and chartplotter equipment: one internal and one external, inside all the upholstery was redone in 2017, air conditioning in all cabins and in the saloon, very large independent kitchen with nespresso machine, freezer and fridge in the lounge for drinks . All toilets are electric and private, shower with hot water, washing machine, two 220 volts generators on board (one main and one backup) to never remain switched off. Aft there is a large sunbathing area and from the bridge you can dive into the sea and take a fresh shower with fresh water.

Other important information
It's an opportunity to experience semi-high seas sailing, with few stops, night sailing and shift management. The skipper will be on hand to pass on the knowledge.
How do I get to the port of embarkation? They don't allow us to reserve berths in Ponta Delgada and Portimao in advance, so we may be forced to choose another port close to the prearranged one. We will give you more information shortly before boarding.
For those who arrive in the Azores, they will have to take the flight to Ponta Delgada. The port will presumably be Ponta Delgada (opposite), but will be confirmed a couple of days before embarkation.
For those who have to embark in Portimaõ, they will have to take the flight to Faro and move by taxi or public transport to the port. Not being able to book in advance, the port will be confirmed a couple of days before.
What can I bring on board? Here is a list of everything that is needed. foldable bag, no rigid suitcase or trolley is allowed towel and bathing suit glasses, sunscreen, cap k-way or jacket for wind and rain Sportswear is recommended for getting around on the boat. A pair of trainers, with a light sole, as an alternative to the typical boat shoes. In any case, the shoes used on board must be clean, for obvious hygienic reasons, and must never be used to go ashore shoes or flip flops to go ashore a tracksuit to use in the evening sailing gloves (if in possession) sleeping bag for sleeping own medicines a good book nice music to listen to sweater or fleece cotton or wool socks wool cap everything that can be useful for slightly cold and windy days 12V to USB car charger adapter In respect of the sea and nature, marine soap is recommended, easily available in nautical shops Headlamp with red light (important for working at night) and spare batteries complete waxed (overalls and jacket) boots (recommended, if you buy them take them 1-2 sizes up) thermal clothing gloves
How is the galley organized? We organize it and it is included in the price (excluding alcoholic beverages). Those who participate must inform us of any intolerances.
Who cooks on board? Everyone participates in the activities on board, even for the kitchen.
Do I need to have sailing experience to participate? This is not a vacation, but an experience of ocean navigation and as such you have to adapt to the times and weather you encounter in the stage. You will have to participate in life on board and its activities, such as 24/24h watch shifts, cooking, cleaning the boat, etc. A minimum of offshore sailing experience and adaptability is recommended.
As long as the Experience is Not Confirmed, you can cancel your reservation at any time and receive a refund of the amount paid.
If the Experience is Confirmed, you can cancel your reservation up to 30 days before departure and receive a full refund.
If available for the selected Experience, you can choose our Extended Refund Terms and cancel your booking at any time up to the departure, and receive a refund of the paid amount, upon the occurrence of certain conditions (illness, including Covid-19, work-related reason, domestic emergency, previous medical conditions and many more).
