This experience, in a nutshell

The fantastic experience of sailing in the Aeolian Islands is due to the magnificent views: bays that go from deep blue water to crystal clear water, sometimes crowned with Mediterranean plants and flowers with their intense scents, other times surrounded by volcanic rock with seabeds covered with fine pumice, an effusive volcanic rock, or by seabeds with hot mud and therefore with warm water and the smell of sulfur.

Another characteristic of these wonderful islands is their history, such as Lipari and its characteristic fortified citadel that stands on a volcanic promontory 50 m above the sea, and its museum that preserves centuries of history, passing from the Neolithic to the Roman, Greek, Byzantine, Norman eras, etc., or Marina Corta with its church and its restaurants by the sea, which contains centuries of history and scents of Sicily.

The beautiful bays of Lipari, sailing between the Faraglioni to get to the bay of Muria, with its solitary beach and the huts of its hermit, or the bay of the White Beaches, where the water resembles that of the Caribbean.

In Vulcano nature changes again and reveals a marked post-volcanic activity, with dramatic landscapes and varied coasts that alternate dark cliffs with black sand beaches, with some spectacular bays such as that of Gelso, where you can eat in its typical restaurant.

Then there is Salina, with its high volcano and its flourishing vegetation, and with one of its bays near the beach of Lingua, where it will be possible, if lucky, to see the turtle, spotted every year; and again to sail in front of Rinella to arrive at the famous bay of Pollara, where the film Il Postino was filmed. Salina is also a beautiful town: its course, with its typical buildings, is full of fashionable shops and typical restaurants.

Then we have Panarea, characterized by the tiny village that comes alive with life and music from night to morning, and then allows a little tranquility in the morning hours; but if we go around the island, after the beach of Calcara, we will find a sea and uncontaminated coasts where there is no landing place or any habitation: it is wild and you can see the flights and screeches of the Eleoral's falcon, symbol of the Aeolian Islands.

And then Stromboli, where, weather permitting, you can moor at the buoy to watch the Sciara del Fuoco, or the wild Alicudi and Filicudi, high volcanoes rich in Mediterranean scents and vegetation, which offer breathtaking views and sunsets.

Sailing among the Pontines

08/6/2023

Francesco F.

Luigi is an excellent skipper with extensive experience in sailing and sailing, as well as knowing the Pontine Islands perfectly, always choosing the most suitable place to stop based on sea and weather conditions and safely. It also gave us the opportunity to deepen our knowledge and ability to steer the boat leaving us plenty of space and making us make beautiful sails. The boat is very comfortable, clean and well maintained. Unfortunately due to the weather our holiday lasted about 2 days less than expected, we could not reach Ventotene and we only made a touch in Palmarola. We must also consider that the crossing from Ostia to the Pontine (and vice versa) is quite demanding (about 9 hours), especially if the sea conditions are not optimal. Perhaps it sins a bit in communication, sometimes taking some things for granted, especially at an organizational level or for those who have no experience on the boat.

Luigi is an exceptional skipper, he made us spend a wonderful holiday, he always put safety in the foreground, plus he made us participate in the maneuvers giving us many priced notions. A warm greeting also to Katia, always kind and discreet.

Recommended experience!! Unforgettable holiday!! Luigi great captain, skipper and sailing instructor, managed all situations safely, despite the wave and strong wind. He transmits the passion for the sea and the world of sailing, available in all explanations, knows the islands and its secrets. Excellent cook engages you with his wonderful tales. The boat is lived, cozy and clean. The trip was wonderful also for the presence of the second skipper super Giangio. The exceptional adventure companions, many emotions experienced together... I can only speak well of the skipper and his deputy Giandrea, friendly and helpful people but above all lovers of the sea. Luigi continuously dispenses sailing lessons and transmits calm even when the weather is not the best! Finally I can say that I did a full immersion of sailing, we really used the engine only when essential, moreover Luigi knows the area well and gave us many tips. I will definitely repeat the experience with them, everything was made unforgettable by a wonderful crew. Alexander
