This experience, in a nutshell

Sailing in the Aeolian Islands is accessible to everyone, even those with no experience in sailing.

During the summer, the weather is generally favorable and the sea tends to be calm. July and August can be hot, but breezes mitigate the situation.

The sailing itinerary does not include demanding routes, with a maximum of 6/7 hours on the longest leg (Sunday). The distances between the islands are short, allowing you to explore the sights, take leisurely walks, and enjoy carefree evenings.

Leg 1

Sunday

Early in the morning we will leave the moorings from the port of TROPEA, putting the bow for the island of VULCANO. We will reach the island in the early afternoon (45 miles), allowing us to visit the island and take a nice swim in the beach. A peculiarity of this island is the active volcanic activity that manifests itself with the fumaroles and thermal waters by the sea. The next morning you will not miss an excursion to the top of the volcano to enjoy a complete overview of the archipelago.

Sunday

Leg 2

Monday

In the late morning, we will head for LIPARI

(3 miles) and we will not miss a short stop to admire the spectacle of nature of the FARAGLIONI DI LIPARI, and after a short navigation around the island. we will drop anchor for a refreshing swim in the PUMICE BAY, where we will have lunch. The bay with crystal clear and pristine waters shows us the ruins of the ancient pumice quarry, now abandoned for decades, In the late afternoon we will drop anchor near the center of the town of the same name to spend a pleasant evening in one of the typical restaurants.

Monday

Leg 3

Tuesday

In the morning we will skirt the island of SALINA and drop anchor in the famous bay of POLLARA, where a famous film was shot. In the afternoon, taking advantage of the breezes, we will raise the sails to the islands of Alicudi, very wild of FLICUDI with its characteristic CANNA where you can not miss a swim. In the evening we will drop anchor in FILICUDI where we will spend the night. The next morning for the more daring we recommend a hike to the top of the mountain that gives us a spectacular view.

Tuesday

Leg 4

Wednesday

In the morning we will sail in relaxation around the islands of FILICUDI AND ALICUDI with a short stop on the latter, very wild. In the early afternoon we will head the bow towards the island of PANAREA but, we cannot miss a short stop north of SALINA to explore the famous GROTTA DEL TORO by swimming, dinghy or sup. Finally in the evening we will reach the VIZZARI BAY in PANAREA where we will drop anchor for the night. With the tender or taxi boat it will be possible to reach the center of the town of the same name.

Wednesday

Leg 5

Thursday

The morning will be full of relaxation, offering an excellent opportunity to sunbathe in the bay from the boat or from the beach. Nearby, you will have the opportunity to visit an ancient prehistoric village. A panoramic walk to the center (25 min) will give unique views and the view of the characteristic houses of the island.

In the afternoon, we will head to the last and fascinating island of STROMBOLI, where we will drop anchor to allow for an exploration on land and a refreshing swim. But a surprise awaits you: around midnight, with favorable weather conditions, we will skirt the island to admire the spectacle and the power of nature of the SCIARRA DI FUOCO.

Finally, at dawn, we'll make a stop for a well-deserved rest.

Thursday

Leg 6

Friday

The cruise is coming to an end, but in the late morning we will have time to make a stop at the STROBOLICCHIO, a remnant of the ancient volcano. Afterwards, we'll head back to the port of TROPEA

Friday

The itinerary may be subject to changes due to weather conditions and/or technical or logistical reasons, in order to ensure safety and a pleasant sailing experience for all participants.

The Barcolana

Gianni, excellent compromise between sea wolf and tour leader. The skipper "commands" does not argue. The cruise shipowner "pampers" the guests. The difficult thing is to make the two roles coexist or, worse, separate them in the event that in the regatta the bora at 35 knots obliges you to give peremptory "orders" to bring the boat and whole sailors to port. He knows how to do it, indeed, his hoarse voice softens him. The real problem is the "Italic people" who do not tolerate order and do not recognize that, not only at sea, those who know command, those who do not know execute.

Barcolana, a unique and unrepeatable experience! Competent and highly experienced skipper, a true sea dog. Gianni and his sweet partner Giovanna tried to manage a VERY complicated regatta in the best possible way. Strong bora, rammed boat and engine failure, all conditions of high stress (it can happen, it's part of the game). In these situations Gianni has not been docile - let's say sandpaper - but in my opinion he has behaved like a true commander, he just decides. Negative note: he has to choose his helpers much better, overestimating or expecting too much from incompetent people generates confusion and insecurity. Thank you!

An amazing week of sailing around the islands with Gianni's La Sapienza was a unique experience Having read some negative reviews I was very skeptical if sailing with Gianni instead I don't understand how it is possible to write free nastiness on the boat and about Gianni's professionalism I absolutely recommend you to sail with him Fair winds

A bit of an edgy impact, then getting to know each other the atmosphere has definitely improved. He is a very good sailor and even during a long crossing in rough seas there were absolutely no problems. The places visited very beautiful and always in peace. The well-equipped and safe boat takes a toll on the years of navigation and sometimes reflects on the ease of tourists. 5 stars and plus of the whole holiday, Giovanna hostess/second on board, who at every juncture, mediates and puts anyone at ease. Holiday to repeat.
