A relaxing and pleasant holiday to discover the main natural and architectural attractions of the Istrian coast and unusual and unusual bays, thanks to the skipper's excellent knowledge of the place. All aboard a sporty and comfortable sailboat, to enjoy your holiday in complete safety.
The meeting for all the crew is at 12.00 in Monfalcone, where after an initial briefing and having familiarized themselves with the boat and traveling companions, they will all go together to do the weekly galley. Around 3.00 pm we leave the moorings and hoist the sails, crossing the enchanting Gulf of Trieste we reach the bay on the Slovenian coast, where after a regenerating swim we admire the sunset, toasting our holiday and our first night under the stars!
Waking up in the bay surrounded by crystal clear waters and uncontaminated landscapes gives an emotion that remains impressed for a long time, it is up to us to choose whether to continue enjoying it with a dip or a breakfast in the cockpit, before resuming navigation that takes us to Umag , where we regularize entry into Croatia. We continue our itinerary towards Novigrad, an ancient fishing village and today a lively seaside resort that has managed to keep intact the characteristic historic center made up of narrow streets, small shops and medieval fortifications that surround much of the city. For those who wish there will be a way to get lost, only metaphorically, to discover this enchanting village and taste the local specialties in one of the many cafes that characterize it.
A day of diving, swimming and carefree chat is the one that Wednesday sees us sailing south among the small islands scattered on the route to Rovinj , where we arrive in the afternoon. From the sea in front of the glimpse of the town allows us to admire it in all its splendor, being able to appreciate from a truly privileged position the view of the baroque church of Santa Eufemia, located on the hill overlooking the city, the Venetian style of architecture and the characteristic houses on the sea. Always a point of reference on the Istrian coast, its uniqueness emerges thanks to the co-existence of a romantic atmosphere capable of referring to past times with refined and modern cultural and food and wine proposals ... we choose what most characterizes our holiday!
If in Rovinj Istria expresses the best of its cultural and architectural heritage it is in the National Park of the Brijuni archipelago , our stop on Thursday, which manifests its naturalistic wonder. At the heart of legends that enhance its beauty and Eden-like appearance, the disruptive and uncontaminated nature preserves a rich and rare variety of Mediterranean flora and animal species, both indigenous and otherwise. Thanks to its privileged position and extraordinary beauty, it has been chosen over time by several characters who have contributed to leaving a mark of historical and cultural interest, which today we can explore with a walk, a comfortable train or by renting bicycles!
With amazement still in our eyes, our navigation continues northwards, in an unprecedented and protected context such as the Lim channel, which arose from the corrosive activity of the Pazincica, a small river now largely transformed into a small gulf. Over 10 km long, surrounded by steep mountains rich in vegetation and brackish waters that characterize the development of plants and animal life, sailing in this channel surrounded by the silence and the grandeur of nature is an experience to be savored. In the afternoon we go again to Poreč , a town with a thousand-year history where you can admire the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO heritage site, and its golden mosaics or relax before being drawn into the lively nightlife!
Saturday after having completed the formalities to leave Croatia we sail to Piran , a seafaring and cosmopolitan town, developed under the influence of nearby Venice, and today one of the most authentic and graceful centers of the Slovenian coast! We can spend the evening in the bay or in one of the many cafes that offer fresh local fish, stroll through the characteristic alleys and for the tireless end the evening in one of the many clubs in nearby Portorož !
Early Sunday we savor a coffee before heading back to our last swim and the inevitable greetings to the sea!
